Abu Dhabi: Karnataka Sangha celebrates Kannada Rajyothsava

Abu Dhabi, Nov 6: The Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated with grandeur and fervour at Abu Dhabi on November 1, Friday under the aegis of the Rajyotsava Award winning Karnataka Sangha, Abu Dhabi. Inland Builders Mangalore were the sponsors of the event which reflected the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka. India Social Centre auditorium was the venue of the programme.

The event was inaugurated by NRI and philanthropist Dr B R Shetty, Karnataka Sangha, President Sarvotham Shetty, Indian Ambassador M V Lokesh and other dignitaries by lighting the lamp.

Karnataka Sangha President Sarvotham Shetty delivered the welcome speech. M V Lokesh in his address said, “Kannada resides in the heart of Kannadigas and it would be appreciated if Rajyotsava is celebrated with togetherness.”

C.R Shetty who is active in various pro-Kannada organizations in the UAE was awarded the Da. Ra. Bendre Award. Speaking after receiving the award, he said, “I am thankful to the Karnataka Sangha for giving me this award and Kannadigas must come together for the betterment of Karnataka no matter where they reside.”

Dr B R Shetty felicitated Siraj Ahmed, Managing Director of In–Land builders and also appreciated the success of the event.

Meritorious students were felicitated on the occasion. The event was organised under the initiative of Karnataka Sangha President Sarvotham Shetty and other office bearers.

Siraj Ahmed who also spoke on the occasion, said “Mangalore is a rapidly growing city and In-Land Builders has always tried to create projects that are an architectural splendor and are also Vaastu compliant.”

A variety of cultural events showcasing the rich heritage of Karnataka were presented by Sri Mookambika Cultural Academy from Puttur, Divya Sharma and group and Rohini Ananth group. Renowned comedian and TV actor Dayanand, also entertained the gathering.

Doha: Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) once again set an example that no caste, creed, language and religion comes as hurdle for their humanitarian services and helped to perform last rites of Ramesh who committed suicide in Doha-Qatar.

45-year-old Ramesh son of K. Nagan hailing from Panikulam, Thrissur district in Kerala, who was working as a tailor committed suicide in his house at Ruwias in Qatar on 30th May 2020.

On hearing this news, some of his friends in Kearla informed Mr. Shihab who is also from Thrissur and a member of QISF and the same was brought to the notice of QISF humanitarian team head Mr. Abdul Latheef Madikeri and Basheer Ahmed of Tamil Nadu.

Immediately, the QISF team intervened and contacted the family members of the deceased in India and discussed the matter and consequences of sending the body back home to India in this pandemic COVID 19 situation.

Considering the prevailing situation, the family members gave the consent to bury the body in Qatar itself.

QISF team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation.

Finally, the body of the deceased was buried in Qatar on 7th June 2020 and the copies of all the relevant documents have been handed over to the family members.

The family members of the deceased thanked and applauded the leaders and all the members of QISF for their effective and on time humanitarian service rendered even in this pandemic crisis and having no bias.

Dubai, May 20: Dubai-based Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club’s humanitarian services in charge Naseer Karaje team have appreciated the efforts of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mangaluru Airport director, NGOs of Mangaluru, and MLA for extending a royal welcome to second batch of repatriates from Dubai that landed at Mangaluru Airport on May 18.

There was so much of confusions when 1st batch of repatriation flight landed in Mangaluru airport on 12th May due to lack of proper arrangements and co ordination.

This time due to proper arrangements and special supervision by the DC everything was driven smoothly. It has given a confidence to all the Manglurean expats of Dubai in returning to their native places, the KSCC said.

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.
