Chandigarh, November 8: The battle-bugle has been sounded. Citing the 4-0 drubbing that India got at the hands of England last year, comeback king Yuvraj Singh has sounded a warning for the Englishmen before the Test series starts in Ahmedabad from November 15.

Yuvraj, who was in the city for a promotional event, said that the Indian team will look to avenge the whitewash that they got when they toured England.

"Last year when we toured England, it was a difficult time for us. This time we would like to give it back to the Englishmen. This is definitely a revenge series for us. They have a number of good players in their ranks, the likes of Kevin Pietersen but we will look to win the series. It will be a good series, a hard-fought one," quipped Yuvraj, making his first public appearance after getting selected for the Test squad.

Brushing aside any doubt about his fitness and whether he can last the rigours of 5-day cricket, Yuvraj felt that his body at present is 'perfectly toned' for extremities of Test cricket.

"Right now I am feeling fit and fine. My body is perfectly toned for Test cricket. I will be going to the 3-day conditioning camp where they (Indian team management) will assess my fitness levels. I cannot wait to get back to play Test cricket," said Yuvraj.

When asked about his return to the Indian Test squad, Yuvraj couldn't hide his excitement and said, "I was sort of excited about this when I got the news. Of course this is big news for me, as I would be coming back into the team after more than a year or so. Though I have played the Twenty20 World Cup but I always wanted to play Test cricket."

Meanwhile, contrary to what many cricketing pundits have endorsed, that India should go for the kill by producing spin-friendly wickets, Yuvraj said, "I am ready to play on any kind of wicket. Whether it is spinner-friendly or a wicket assisting the pacers, I just want to go out there and perform. At the end of the day, the wicket doesn't matter, what matters is that we win against England."

The southpaw had scored a magnificent double century (208) against Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy semifinals, dispelling any doubts over his fitness levels and then followed it up with a half-century and a five-wicket haul against England in a practice match.

Yuvraj, will now join his teammates at the Brabourne stadium, Mumbai for a 3-day conditioning camp from November 9-11 before the Test series starts.

New Delhi, Feb 9: The Indian Fed Cup team will travel to Dubai for this year's competition as the ITF has named the desert city as the new venue for the matches, to be held from March 3 to 7.

The ITF named the new venue after moving out the matches from then Chinese city of Dongguan due to Coronoavirus threat. The Asia/Oceania Group I matches were originally scheduled to be played from February 4-8.

"The event will be held in the week following the ATP Dubai tournament at the same venue, and will see six nations China P.R., Chinese Taipei, India, Indonesia, Korea Rep. and Uzbekistan - compete for a place in the Fed Cup Play-offs in April," an ITF release said.

The six teams will vie for two spots in Fed Cup Play-offs.

"Being in Dubai makes no difference. But the dates give enough time to Sania for her recovery. Doubles is an important point. Ankita is playing well. The other team members will also get some tournament to play under their belt," India's Fed Cup captain Vishal Uppal told news agency.

Sania's participation was under doubt due to a calf injury she aggravated during the Australian Open, where she pulled out of the mixed doubles before retiring mid-way into her women's doubles opening round match.

"I think we have a good chance but we will have to be at our best and fight hard for every point, every game, every set, every match," Uppal added.

Chennai, Jan 26: Former India cricketer Kapil Dev on Saturday said that it will be a big loss for the Indian side when MS Dhoni decides to hang up his boots.

"I think he has served the country so well and nobody has done it like him. Everyone has to retire sooner or later. He is not playing matches currently. So I don't know when he will come out one day and say -- I have had enough. I think it will be our loss because he is such a fabulous cricketer," Dev told reporters here.

In the recently released BCCI contracts list, Dhoni did not find a place for himself. The former World Cup winning captain Dev said that it is unfortunate that Dhoni was not included in the contract list.

"I feel sorry that they have not included him.

Tendulkar, Gavaskar had to witness the same. It's not my job and I am not there to give the contract to anyone. It is the job of the cricket board. So, I don't know. You can ask this question to the cricket board. They will be able to answer this question," Dev said.

The 38-year-old Dhoni is currently enjoying some time away from the game. He last played competitive cricket during the 2019 World Cup.

Dhoni had to face criticism for his slow batting approach during India's matches in the tournament.

Especially in the games against England and New Zealand (semi-final), he had to bear the brunt of netizens, who deemed him as the reason for the Men in Blue's loss.

BCCI released the list of central contract list of players for the period from October 2019 to September 2020.

New Delhi, Jun 2: Manchester United's Paul Pogba on Monday paid tribute to George Floyd, stressing that violent acts of racism can no longer be tolerated and they have to stop.

Pogba took to Instagram to write: "During the past few days I have thought a lot about how to express my feelings about what happened in Minneapolis. I felt anger, pity, hatred, indignation, pain, sadness."

"Sadness for George and for all black people who suffer from racism Every day! Whether in football, at work, at school, Anywhere! This has to stop, once and for all! Not tomorrow or the next day, it has to end today! Violent acts of racism can no longer be tolerated," he added.

Protests erupted in Minneapolis and other US cities on Tuesday after Floyd, an African-American man, died following his arrest by the four officers.

A viral video showed a police officer, Derek Chauvin, pinning 46-year-old Floyd to the ground with his knee on his neck for nearly eight minutes. Floyd died at a local hospital shortly thereafter.

The four police officers were fired. Chauvin was also charged with murder and manslaughter, according to Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman.
