Kolkata, December 8: India's famed batting line-up failed to deliver as the team was left staring at yet another huge defeat after being reduced to 145 for six at tea on the fourth day of the third cricket Test against England here today.

Given the situation, the visiting England team looks well on course to taking an unassailable 2-1 series lead.

The picture changed rapidly for India post lunch as from a promising 86 for no loss, they lost six wickets with yet another innings defeat looming large.

Virat Kohli, after being dropped at 4, was unbeaten on 19, while R Ashwin was batting on eight at the tea break as India were still 62 runs behind.

Earlier in the morning, India restricted England's first innings lead to 207, bowling the visitors out for 523 scalping four wickets in 4.3 overs with England managing to add just 14 runs to their overnight total.

India's promising start to their second innings, having conceded a 207-run lead, was undone when Sehwag (49) got out off the first ball after lunch.

Graeme Swann got one to rip back through Sehwag's gate taking the top of the off stump to break the opening partnership for 86.

What followed was another dismissal as Gautam Gambhir once again helped England in a run-out.

Cheteshwar Pujara (8) became the victim this time when the leading Indian run-getter of the series fell short of the crease going in for a non-existent run as Ian Bell hit the stumps directly from short leg.

Finn should be credited for creating pressure around Gambhir who conceded two maiden overs to the pacer.

In the third over, after playing out five dot balls Gambhir desperately attempted for a single with a soft push to leg-side to avoid a third straight maiden.

But it only brought end to Pujara, who has 402 runs in the series including one double and a century.

Gambhir, who had contributed to Sehwag's run-out in a similar fashion in the first innings, became India's villain again.

In the very first of the next over, the Indian opener, on 36, survived after umpire Rod Tucker gave him not out after his faint nick was brilliantly taken by Jonathan Trott in a low catch.

But Gambhir could not prolong his stint at the crease, edging one behind the stumps.

It was two wickets in as many overs as India were rattled at 107 for four with Sachin Tendulkar back in the dressing room after a promising paddle sweep off Swann.

The off-spinner took Tendulkar's outside edge to be caught at the slip by Jonathan Trott as India started to stare at yet another big defeat.

Kohli, on four, got a second life after being dropped by Bell at deepish short leg as India looked to avoid an innings defeat with more than four sessions to go.

New Delhi, May 28: India is not at risk of losing hosting rights for next year's Twenty20 World Cup despite its cricket board's failure to secure a tax exemption for the event, a key BCCI official has told Reuters.

Tax exemptions for International Cricket Council (ICC) events are listed as a requirement in host agreements and the BCCI was supposed to confirm they had secured one by May 18.

ESPNcricinfo, citing correspondence between the two bodies, has reported that the ICC has threatened to shift the tournament away from India over the issue.

However, BCCI treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal told Reuters that would not happen and that negotiations were continuing.

"There is no risk to the tournament," he said by telephone.

"That is a work in progress. We are discussing it with the ICC and we'll resolve it."

The BCCI encountered a similar problem when it hosted the event in 2016 when the government refused to provide a tax exemption, and there has been no change in New Delhi's stance despite the board's appeals.

Failure to secure that exemption in 2016 saw the ICC withhold an equivalent sum from India's share of revenue from the governing body's grants and it appears to be taking an even harder line this time around.

"There are certain timelines within the agreements that we collectively work towards to ensure we can deliver successful world class events and continue to invest in the sport of cricket," an ICC spokesperson told Reuters.

"In addition to this the ICC Board agreed clear timelines for the resolution of the tax issues which we are guided by."

New Delhi, Feb 9: The Indian Fed Cup team will travel to Dubai for this year's competition as the ITF has named the desert city as the new venue for the matches, to be held from March 3 to 7.

The ITF named the new venue after moving out the matches from then Chinese city of Dongguan due to Coronoavirus threat. The Asia/Oceania Group I matches were originally scheduled to be played from February 4-8.

"The event will be held in the week following the ATP Dubai tournament at the same venue, and will see six nations China P.R., Chinese Taipei, India, Indonesia, Korea Rep. and Uzbekistan - compete for a place in the Fed Cup Play-offs in April," an ITF release said.

The six teams will vie for two spots in Fed Cup Play-offs.

"Being in Dubai makes no difference. But the dates give enough time to Sania for her recovery. Doubles is an important point. Ankita is playing well. The other team members will also get some tournament to play under their belt," India's Fed Cup captain Vishal Uppal told news agency.

Sania's participation was under doubt due to a calf injury she aggravated during the Australian Open, where she pulled out of the mixed doubles before retiring mid-way into her women's doubles opening round match.

"I think we have a good chance but we will have to be at our best and fight hard for every point, every game, every set, every match," Uppal added.

New Delhi, Jul 14: Indian bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who features in the list of A category players released by BCCI, has revealed his first-ever paycheck.

Bhuvneshwar was participating in a question and answer session on Twitter where he gave his take on fans' queries.

The 30-year-old bowler was asked about his first paycheck by a fan and Bhuvneshwar responded by saying, "It was for Rs 3000. I shopped and still managed to saved some."

During the question and answer session Bhuvneshwar picked Barcelona striker Lionel Messi over Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The right-arm bowler also revealed that football and badminton are his favourite sports other than cricket.

Earlier this year, Bhuvneshwar was named in the list A category of players. BCCI had released the list of centrally contracted players for the period from October 2019 to September 2020. Annually, A category players get Rs 5 crore.

The right-arm bowler would have been in action for Sunrisers Hyderabad if the Indian Premier League (IPL) had commenced from March 29. However, the tournament was postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
