Bengaluru, Jun 3: Last minute efforts are on by the top brass of the home department to convince the police constabulary not to go on mass casual leave on Saturday. “There will not be any form of protest on June 4 and constables would not go on mass casual leave.
Most constables have submitted undertakings to rsepctive superintendents of police and deputy commissioners of police promising that they would abide by the department's orders and not participate in the protest,” Director General and Inspector General of Police Om Prakash told reporters on Thursday.“Senior officers, IGPs and SPs are monitoring the situation and all constables would be on duty on June 4. Stern action would be taken against those who violate the order and participate in the protest called by Akhila Karnataka Police Mahasangha (AKPMS),” he said.
“The State government and the police higher ups are fully aware of the grievances of the constabulary and efforts are on to redress them. The constables are not backed by any insiders, but instigated by some outside elements. The AKPMS president V Shashidhar's claim that about 32,000 constables had already submitted leave requests are totally false,” the state police chief said.
