Not even a single BJP MLA will join Cong after May 23: Yeddyurappa

Kalaburagi, May 14: Opposition Leader in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly B S Yeddyurappa, who is also BJP State President, today ruled out possibility of BJP Legislators joining Congress after May 23.

Referring to AICC General Secretary and party incharge of Karnataka affairs K C Venugopal's claim, he said that " no single BJP MLA will join the Congress or any other political party".

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Yeddyurappa said that “after May 23 when Lok Sabha election results are announced, more than 20 Congress MLAs who are not happy with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, will not continue in Congress and they wanted to join BJP."

Yeddyurappa’s statement comes in the wake of Venugopal asserting that many BJP MLAs in Karnataka will join Congress after May 23, when results of the seven-phase general elections will be declared. "We are not going to poach any MLAs from BJP but on their own they will join Congress".

Yeddyurappa expressed confidence of his party candidates clinching from Congress the Kundagol and Chincholi seats by winning the byelection."

Bengaluru, Feb 20: The poultry industry is facing losses amid rumours of the discovery of a chicken infected with coronavirus in Bengaluru.

DK Kantharaju, president, Karnataka Cooperative Poultry Federation said, "Karnataka is facing losses of Rs 60 to 65 crores. The consumption percentage has also decreased by 30-35 per cent".

Atiq, a meat seller, said, "Because of coronavirus people are scared. But I want to say that chicken is safe to consume here. All this fear is caused due to fake news on social media."

Another person Abdul Hafeez said, "Chicken and coronavirus are not related. People are scared because of what is being spread on social media. The business has definitely gone down due to fear of coronavirus."

Gadag, Aug 1: A woman in Gadag district of Karnataka mortgaged her 'mangalsutra' to buy a television set for her children following the Karnataka government's decision to continue the classes through TV amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

A resident of Radder Naganur village, Kasturi, who is also a mother of two, purchased a television set against her 'mangalsutra' for Rs 14,000. She bought the TV after her children's school teachers asked them to attend classes via the television set.

Kasturi said, "I can not send the children to the neighbours' house every day and it was necessary for them to study. We had no other option but to buy a TV set."

She said, "Both, my husband and I are daily wage workers and during coronavirus, we do not have work or money."

"I sold my 'mangalsutra' for Rs 20,000 and bought a TV for Rs 14,000," said Kasturi while happily adding, "Now, my kids can study at home itself."

Kasturi's daughter, Surekha said, "We did not have the TV for several months but now when we have it, we will study and get a bigger 'mangalsutra' for my mother."

Bengaluru, Jun 23: Police have nabbed two foreign nationals who were drawing money from ATMs of various banks by using fake ATM cards after collecting details of the card including code while customers used to withdraw money.

Police on Tuesday said that the arrested were identified as Felix Kisiibo (25), Present address Kogilu, Yelahanka, Bengaluru Native address BUGOBERO Village, Khabutoola sub-county, Manafwa District, Uganda and Khairun Abbdulla (32), Present address Kogilu, Yelahanka, Bengaluru Native address House Uzini Zanzibar, Mkele urban, Tanzania.

The duo by inserting Skirmish machine into ATM used to collect details of ATM cardholders, balance and code and then by using fake ATM cards used to withdraw the money without the knowledge of customers.
