Now, govt staff must declare present guidance value of their properties

Bengaluru Jan 3: The State Cabinet on Tuesday decided to make it mandatory for all government employees to declare the present guidance value of the properties owned by them and their dependents.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said henceforth the employees will also have declare the properties owned by their children and parents. Hitherto, they had to declare the assets of their spouses. "We have decided to make it mandatory to declare present guidance value and not the purchase price to prevent any undervaluation of properties" Jayachandra said.

The employees will also have to declare all jewellery worth more than Rs 10,000 and household item worth more than Rs 25,000. Amendment will brought to Form IV prescribed under Rule 7 of the Karnataka Lokayukta Rules, 1985 for the purpose. It will come into effect once the amended rules are notified, he said.

The Cabinet also decided to grant Central government pay scales to the employees of High Court of Karnataka with arrears from October 6, 2004. The Cabinet took the decision following a direction from the Supreme Court and, it will cost the state exchequer Rs 318.46 crore.

In another decision, the Cabinet decided to withhold promotions to different cadres of state civil services till January 15, 2018 following the Supreme Court quashing consequential promotions for SC/ST employees.

The Cabinet approved the "State Faecal Sludge and Septage Management Policy" for sewage waste management as mandated by the Amrit scheme of the Centre.

In another decision, the Cabinet gave its clearance for a supplying Tungabhadra backwaters under the multi-village drinking water scheme to habitation of Pavagada taluk in Tumakuru district, Molakalmur in Chitradruga district, Kudligi taluk of Ballari district among others at a cost of Rs 2,352 crore, Jayachandra said.

Bengaluru, Mar 4: Seeking to allay fear among the citizens in the wake of Coronavirus scare, Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Wednesday made an appeal to the people not to pay heed to rumours spreading on social media.

In a series of tweets, Mr Sriramulu assured people that the government has taken adequate measures to ensure that the disease does not spread further. "Don't lend your ears to rumours about the Coronavirus in the social media. Rely only on the authentic information," he tweeted.

The minister's tweet came as Bengaluru reported the first case, after a techie from the city with a travel history to Dubai and interaction with Hong Kong-based people there, was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad.

As panic gripped the city, Mr Sriramulu said the apartment where the software engineer was staying has been sanitised. Besides, his 25 colleagues have been identified. One of them has been admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure and his blood sample has been sent for lab test.

"So far 40,207 people have been screened at the International airport. 251 blood tests have been done, of which 238 were found negative, while the rest of the reports are yet to come," Mr Sriramulu tweeted.

The health department said three people have been admitted to the isolation ward at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD).

Meanwhile, a parent appealed to people not to panic about the Coronavirus in the techie's apartment, where his son too resides. "My son is from the same apartment. To update everyone, there is absolutely nothing wrong here. It was more of panic on social media that created this," he said in a message.

He said that the man who is in Telengana and testedpositive stayed in this building on February 21. "His roommate was taken to hospital and has tested negative," he said. It is been two weeks since the incident. The virus cansurvive only for 48 hours under optimal conditions, he noted. "Everyone in this building is safe. Please educate yourself. Refrain from spreading panic and misinformation." he added.

Bengaluru, Mar 24: The state government on Tuesday published names and addresses of 14,000 people who have been placed under home quarantine, on its website.  

A district wise break up of the home quarantine patients was also provided.  

Notably, the number of coronavirus cases has risen to 41 in the state.

Hubballi, Apr 16: Police have seized a vehicle carrying nine members of a family from Dharwad for misusing the travel pass issued by the district administration in Narendra Village and sent them for Quarantine.

Deputy SP Ravi Nayak and his team stopped the vehicle at Narendra village, in the outskirts of the city and found out that they were from Uppina Betagiri village returning from a wedding function using government pass issued for medical reasons.

The police seized the vehicle and sent them to KIMS hospital for a medical check-up. Their swab samples have been collected and sent for testing. The police have asked them to go for a compulsory home quarantine for 14 days.
