Now, police officers have to file daily reports to DG&IGP's office

Bengaluru, Dec 1: DG&IGP Neelmani N Raju has directed all police officers to report to her daily incidents, bandobast arrangements and other important incidents, including preventive arrests, without fail.

The move is aimed at bringing down corruption in the stations and illegal detentions.

The state police chief has directed inspectors to report even minute incidents to the DG control room.

The circular issued to all police stations says that if officers fail to report the incidents, thinking they are small ones, stringent action will be taken against them. Apart from reporting the incidents to their divisional commissioners and SPs, inspectors should now report them to the DG's control room also.

The circular says, "All incidents reported in the station limits will be viewed seriously and action will be taken against the officers if they do not report them to the DG's control room."

Earlier, officials used to send the information to the DCP or the SP concerned only.

The circular said there are a number of illegal detentions in the police stations. The police stations have turned settlement centres for property disputes. Hence, the circular will now help keep tabs on police stations on a daily basis and bring down corruption there.

At present, there are 906 police stations, with 230 circle officers, 91 sub-division police offices and 31 divisional police offices, including the railway police, in the state.

Indian expats in Dubai can now get tatkal passport on the same day

Dubai, Jan 10: Indian expats in Dubai and the northern Emirates will now be able to get passports issued on the same day under certain conditions, including a higher fee, the Consulate here has announced.

Consul General of India in Dubai Vipul on Thursday announced that the Consulate will start issuing tatkal passports (issued in emergency cases) on the same day, the Gulf News said in a report.

Vipul made the announcement during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (Non Resident Indian-NRI Day) celebrations at the consulate.

He said the same day issuance service for tatkal passports can be availed only if the application is submitted before noon at the office of BLS International, the outsourced service provider for Indian passport and visa applications, in Al Khaleej Centre, Bur Dubai.

"We already issue tatkal passports in 24 hours. We are going one step beyond that. We are going to issue tatkal passport on the same day if it is applied for before 12 noon. By evening, we can issue the tatkal passport," the Consul General added.

The mission receives about 850 passport applications daily.

Last year, the consulate issued more than 200,000 passports, over 2500 emergency certificates (one-way travel document), over 2,800 police clearance certificates and provided 72,000 attestation services including registration of births and deaths, according to Vipul.

Dentist arrested for alleged sexual harassment during treatment

Mangaluru, Jan 30: A dentist has been arrested by the Dakshina Kannada district police on charge of sexually harassing a woman patient during treatment at a hospital in Beltangady taluk.

The accused has been identified as Dr Sudhakar. He is facing charges under section 354, 354A(1)(I) of IPC.

The incident occurred yesterday when a local woman had been to the government hospital at Kasaba village in Beltangady for dental treatment.

According to the woman, Dr Sudhakar deliberately touched her body inappropriately and sexually harassed during treatment.

The shocked woman went to the jurisdictional Beltangady police station and lodged a complaint. The doctor was arrested and produced before the court.

Mangaluru: Massive protest against CAA, NPR, NRC held at Kudroli

Mangaluru, Feb 25: The coastal city of Mangaluru today witnessed yet another major agitation against infamous CAA, NPR and NRC with large number of people gathering at Kudroli’s Tipu Sultan Garden to register their protest against union government’s racist policies.

Addressing the gathering activist B R Bhaskar Prasad said, he knows the RSS inside out as he was associated with it for a prolonged period.

He said the ultimate aim of RSS is to establish a casteist society in India with the micro-minority community of Brahmins having complete control over all other major communities.

Lambasting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for constantly harassing people of India through back to back contentious legislations, he said that the duo poised to destroy the country.
