NRI woman gets her abusive hubby arrested in Sharjah by tweeting her bleeding eye pic

Sharjah, Nov 14: An Indian expat was arrested by Sharjah Police after his wife posted a video of herself on social media saying he violently assaulted and abused her, a media report said on Thursday.

Sharjah Police immediately responded to the tweet and reached out to the Indian woman and arrested the 47-year-old man on Wednesday night, Gulf News reported.

The November 12 tweet showed Jasmine Sultan, 33, crying with one of her eyes bleeding.

Her tweet said: "Required urgent help. My name Jasmine Sultan I live in UAE Sharjah my husband name is Mohammad Khizar Ulla... I have (been) assaulted badly by husband... I want help."

She claimed her husband used to assault her regularly. The couple had been married for seven years and have two boys, aged five and 17 months.

Sultan also alleged that her husband took away their passports and all her gold jewellery which had been reported to the police in February.

She said she had sought help from the authorities to send her back to her home town of Bengaluru as she had no relatives here and money to raise her children.

Meanwhile, Sharjah Police on their social media account said competent authorities dealt with the case. They urged residents not to post or share such videos on social media due to its negative impact on society.

Gadag, Feb 20: A 33-year-old Muslim man is all set to become a seer at Muruga Rajendra Mutt in Gadag.

Ordained by Sri Murugarajendra Koraneswara Swami of the mutt, Dewan Sharief Mullah claims he was taking the step not under any duress but after being "guided by the almighty".

"Nobody asked me to do it. The almighty came in my mind and guided me.... They have put the sacred thread and given me the responsibility. They have given me the 'Ishta-linga' and this honour. I have done the 'Ishta-linga dharan'. I will walk on the path of dharma. Love and sacrifice is the message given to me. That is what I want to propagate," he said.

Sri Murugarajendra Koraneswara Swami said, "It does not matter what caste you belong to. If God appears to you for a path of goodwill and sacrifice, you will do it regardless of the manmade restrictions of birth and caste."

Bengaluru, Jun 25: State-run Kumara Krupa Guest House in the city will be used as 100-bed COVID-19 treatment center for the designated category patients, Karnataka Health Department Sources said here on Thursday.

According to official sources, one wing of the Guest House with 100-bed rooms of individual occupancy having all the facilities is reserved to work as Covid Care Center (CCC) and it will be used for Ministers, MPs, MLAs/MLCs, Senior officers of above Secretary rank for clinical management.

The total number of positive cases reported till date in the State has increased to 10,118, the sources added.

Mangaluru, Mar 23: As many as 600 people who arrived from foreign countries are under the surveillance of the district police in the Dakshina Kannada, as a measure to contain the spread of Covid-19, said Superintendent of Police B M Laxmi Prasad on Monday.

The police personnel are visiting their houses in Dakshina Kannada police jurisdiction. They have been asked to remain quarantined at home for 14 days."We have appealed to the local residents to tip the police if they violate the quarantine period,"he added.
