Mumbai, Jun 4: In a new twist to the rape case allegedly involving actor Karan Oberoi, police have arrested the lawyer of the complainant woman for 'staging' an attack on her last month.

The lawyer, Ali Kaashif Khan, was arrested by Oshiwara police Monday, days after the woman claimed that she was attacked by two motorcycle-borne men, on May 25, when she was on a morning walk, a police official said on Tuesday.

According to the complaint filed by the woman, two persons riding a motorcycle attacked her with a sharp object and threatened to throw acid on her face.

Before leaving the spot, the attackers had hurled a chit with the message "take the case back", the official said.

He said Khan's name cropped up when police were interrogating four persons who were arrested in connection with the attack.

At least one of the four persons was found to be related to Khan, he said.

"During the investigation, police found Khan's role in the attack on the woman, following which he was arrested," he said.

A court has remanded Khan in judicial custody, he said, adding that police will also question the complainant to understand whether she was aware of the "staged attack" on her.

The woman had filed a case against Oberoi for raping her under the pretext of marriage and blackmailing her for money with her video clips.

Oberoi, who has acted in television serials and appeared in commercials, was arrested earlier this month after the woman lodged a complaint with Oshiwara police.

The Sultan actor is staying at his Panvel farmhouse with his nephew Nirvaan Khan and other family members ever since the lockdown was announced.

Earlier, the 54-year-old actor urged people to take up the ''Anna Daan'' challenge and donate to the underprivileged ones who are worst affected by the COVID-19 lockdown.

New Delhi, Jul 10: Actor Bhumi Pednekar, who is staying indoors like many other Bollywood celebrities, on Friday said that she has learned to prioritise what is important to her amid the COVID-19-induced lockdown.

"One thing that I have learnt about myself is that I love isolation. I love being by myself. I saw a lot of people complaining that they are bored at home or that they cannot go out. I am an extrovert, I am a very social person but this quarantine has led me to realise that I do prefer my isolation over meeting people because I haven't really been in touch with people," she said.

"I have kind of been catching over my reading, not seen much television but started watching shows. I have spent a lot of time with my mom and honesty there were days when I did nothing," she added.

The 'Pati Patni Aur Woh' actor further said that it was important loving oneself and enjoying one's own company.

"I have kind of prioritised what I feel is important in life. I have re-educated myself. But the biggest learning has been that I love being alone. And maybe I have kind of enjoyed this state because as actors you are constantly surrounded by people whether you are promoting or shooting a film," she said.

"Your immediate entourage is also like a team of quite a few people. You are constantly over the phone, you are constantly over social media," she added.

Pednekar was last seen in Karan Johar's horror film 'Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship,'.

She will next be seen in another horror thriller, 'Durgavati.'
