Kasaragod, Aug 12: The heavy downpour since Friday had partially damaged the observatory wall of the Bekal fort near here late evening on Sunday.
According to sources the damage, apparently minor in nature, was caused to one of the two observatory towers on the entrance to the 369-year old fort.
Built by Shivappa Nayaka of Keladi in 1650 AD, the Bekal fort on the Arabian sea coast is the largest fort in Kerala, spreading over 40 acres.
