Oman: Indian Pravasi Forum starts New Year with blood donation

Muscat: Indian Pravasi Forum Mabela -Oman in association with Ministry of Health Sultanate of Oman and Modern Al Salama Polyclinic organized “Free Medical Checkup and Blood Donation Camp” at the premises of Dhiaa Al Mustaqbeel Private School, Mabela Industrial Area in Oman on Friday, first day of new year 2016.

On this occasion, the Chief guest Mr. Maqssod Shaikh (President North India Zone Indian Pravasi Forum Oman) addressed gathering and appreciated this noble blood donation camp as it was arranged in the right time while doctors in Oman called few days earlier for more blood donation to boost availability. He also expressed with pleasure about the other activities carried out the Indian Pravasi Forum in Oman.

The other guest, Dr. Mohammad Mustafa (Specialist in Intern Medicine of Modern Al Salama Polyclinic) provided the gathering with health tips and advantage of blood donation. He highlighted the value of “a mere 400ml donated blood can help to save three people’s lives”.

Mr. Yusuf Haider Mukka (President of Indian Pravasi Forum, Karnataka Chapter in Oman) Presided over the function. Mr. Aboobaker Siddiqui (Managing Director of Modern Al Salama Polyclinic), Mrs. Ebteesam Mohammad (Principle of Dhiaa Al Mustaqbal Private School) and Mr. Abbas Gurupura (President of Indian Social Forum Bark Area)

Mr. Irfan Ujire (President of Indian Pravasi Forum Barka Area) inaugurated the blood donation camp by donating his blood as the first person followed by others.

On this occasion, 56 persons donated blood and 300 people took the advantage of free medical checkup facilities utilizing services of Multi Specialty Doctors and Dental Specialist. Other facilities provided with ‘Free Prescription, Blood Pressure Checkup, Weight Loss Advices, Blood Sugar Checkup and Nutrition Advices.

Abdul Rasheed Beltangady gave the welcome speech and Zakariya Bappalige gave the thanks giving speech. Program was compared by Abdul Hakeem.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.

Dubai, May 20: Dubai-based Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club’s humanitarian services in charge Naseer Karaje team have appreciated the efforts of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mangaluru Airport director, NGOs of Mangaluru, and MLA for extending a royal welcome to second batch of repatriates from Dubai that landed at Mangaluru Airport on May 18.

There was so much of confusions when 1st batch of repatriation flight landed in Mangaluru airport on 12th May due to lack of proper arrangements and co ordination.

This time due to proper arrangements and special supervision by the DC everything was driven smoothly. It has given a confidence to all the Manglurean expats of Dubai in returning to their native places, the KSCC said.
