Omkar Nagar Ganeshotsava from Aug 31

Mangalore, August 26: Saarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samithi will be organising the eighth annual Ganeshotsava from August 31 to September 3 at Omkar Nagar, Bunts Hostel Mangalore.

It will be organised in association with Taluk Buntara Sangha, Buntara yaane Nadavara Sangha, Dakshina Kannada Udupi Kasargod Buntara Sangha and other organisations.

The celebrations will start on August 31 with the procession of Sri Mahaganapathi's idol from Ramakrishna Mandir situated near Sri Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple to Omkar Nagar near Bunts Hostel. Family treasure hunt will be organised for the public on the same day at Bunts Hostel ground.

Cultural programs in relation to the Ganeshotsava will start on September 1 and will continue till September 3.

Religious meet will also be organised for three days where achievers in the field of religion, education, art and other fields from various communities will be felicitated.

New Delhi, Apr 25: Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Saturday said that a journalist from Bangalore Urban, who has tested positive for COVID-19, is one out of 15 new cases reported in the state.

He further said that out of the 15 new coronavirus cases, six each are from Bangalore Urban and Belagavi and one each from Mandya, Chikkaballapura and Dakshin Kannada. The state's tally is now 489.

"#COVID19 Update: From 5 pm, 24th April till 12 noon today. A total of 489 cases, 15 positives, 18 deaths & 183 discharges," Sudhakar tweeted.

India's total number of coronavirus positive cases has climbed to 24,506 including 18,668 active cases, 5,063 cured/discharged/migrated and 775 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said today.

Bengaluru, Apr 15: The Opposition Congress in Karnataka on Wednesday accused the BJP government, headed by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, of showing discrimination in distribution of relief material to those affected by the lockdown, clamped to check the spread of Novel Coronavirus, by favouring constituencies represented by the ruling BJP Legislators.

Despite that, the party intends to extend full cooperation to the government during this hour of crisis without indulging in politics, it urged the administration to be “transparent”.

''We have had our (Congress) Task Force meeting today, during which we discussed several matters. There is a lot of difference between the government's talk and its deeds,'' KPCC President D K Shivakumar said.

Mangaluru, May 10: The Yenepoya Medical College Hospital at Deralakatte here has become the first private hospital in Dakshina Kannada district to get coronavirus (COVID-19) testing approval.

The laboratory at the hospital has received the nod from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to conduct tests for COVID-19, a release here said.

Dakshina Kannada will now have two centres for coronavirus tests, the first one being the district Wenlock hospital, the designated hospital for Covid-19.

ICMR has approved 33 testing centres in the state of which 21 are government hospitals and 12 are private hospitals.
