Bengaluru, Jan 10: The pro-cess of accepting online applications for ration cards for above poverty line (APL) families began on Monday.
APL families applying online can download a copy of the document on ahara.kar.nic.in. Except for Aadhaar number, there is no other pre-condition.
A hard copy of the card will be sent within 15 days. The fee is Rs 100 per card. The online facility will be extended to BPL families, Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T?Khader said.
Mangaluru, Feb 19: Social worker Tabassum who has been rendering selfless service to HIV/AIDS affected children through her shelter home 'Snehadeep' at Bejai has been selected for the Annual Award of Mangaluru Press Club for the year 2019.
Tabassum, a resident of Konaje was chosen by a team of judges comprising Prof Balakrishna Gatti, Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla and Dr Nagaveni Manchi.
The passion of young Ms Tabassum and Social Working of today, particularly, gives me lot of hope. It almost feels like the political class wants to bring down India while the people are so hard working and committed to nation building.

Mangaluru, Jul 17: Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai has tested positive for the covid-19.
Mr Rai took to social media to announce it: “I have been tested COVID19 positive & I am under Quarantine at Bangalore. With all your love and blessings, I will recover and be back soon at your service.
“My request to all those who were in close proximity with me in the last few days, kindly get yourselves checked for COVID,” he stated in a social media post on Friday.
Bengaluru, Apr 1: The Opposition Congress leader in the Karnataka Assembly, and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has appealed the party legislators and MPs to contribute a minimum rupees one lakh each, towards the KPCC's Corona relief fund.
In a statement, here on Tuesday, Siddaramaiah had stated that the COVID-19 disease had created a havoc among the people of the state, and had thrown thousands of people jobless and struggling to get access to the food grains as well as to medical aid.
The people of the state, who had battered from the unprecedented rains and floods recently, had to face another daunting challenge of the spread of COVID-19 virus across the state.
