Bengaluru, Jan 10: The pro-cess of accepting online applications for ration cards for above poverty line (APL) families began on Monday.
APL families applying online can download a copy of the document on ahara.kar.nic.in. Except for Aadhaar number, there is no other pre-condition.
A hard copy of the card will be sent within 15 days. The fee is Rs 100 per card. The online facility will be extended to BPL families, Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T?Khader said.
Mangaluru, May 13: Kannadigas in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have sought additional flights to return to Karnataka during a video conference with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa here on Tuesday.
Noting that most of the ex-pats in UAE were from the coastal region, they urged the state government to ensure that most of these flights land in the Mangalore International Airport.
Many Kannadigas in the UAE were left unemployed due to the lockdown. “Many of them do not have the means to return to Karnataka and the state government should aid them,” representatives of various Kannadiga ex-pat groups urged the CM.
Yediyurappa said that the government has made all arrangements to bring back the ex-pats, and assured to fulfil all their demands.
Kalaburagi, Mar 14: Delivering its judgment within a period of three and half months, a court here on Friday awarded death sentence to a man, who was a convict in the rape and murder case of a minor girl.
The Second Additional District and Sessions court in Kalaburagi sentenced Yallappa to death in the matter.
"The convict, had on December 2, 2019, taken the minor victim behind an Angwanwadi centre in Yakapur village. He raped the girl, murdered her and ran away," special public prosecutor LV Chutnalakar told media.
He said that the body of the girl was recovered around 10 pm on the same night.
"The investigation in the matter was taken up after a complaint was filed by the parents of the victim. The police conducted a speedy probe and filed a chargesheet, after which the conviction and sentence were pronounced," Chutnalakar said.
