Bengaluru, Aug 29: Debunking speculation that Congress leader Siddaramaiah was trying to destabilise the coalition government, chief minister Kumaraswamy has said that the former extended all the support for the smooth functioning of the government.

“It is only because of Siddaramaiah that we are running a secure government. He will not give any sort of support for such destabilising activities, and the government will complete its five-year tenure under the protection of Siddaramaiah himself,” said the CM and urged media not to spread unnecessary rumours.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Dinesh Gundu Rao, president also ruled out any serious differences between the coalition partners that would pose a threat to the stability of the State government.

He said that the coalition was forged in Karnataka to keep BJP at bay from getting to power. The Congress has clarity on the responsibilities that it should discharge to ensure the smooth functioning of the government, he said.

Regarding Siddaramaiah’s statement that he wanted to become CM once again, Rao said, “Siddaramaiah’s statements have been blown out of proportion. When the audience at a public meeting in Hassan district said that he should become CM again, Siddaramaiah responded in a casual manner that the wishes of the people would be fulfilled. Later, he has clarified that such development may take place only after the present government completes its term.”

When quizzed on Kumaraswamy’s recent statement that efforts were being made to destabilise his government, Rao said, “Kumaraswamy has not said that any Congress leader is trying to destabilise the government. His allegations are pointed towards the BJP,” he said. Rao alleged that to destablise the government, Karnataka BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa was contacting Congress and JD(S) MLAs regularly.

Bengaluru, Apr 13: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President and former Minister D K Shivakumar has demanded resignation of Minister In-Charge of COVID-19 for his alleged irresponsible comment, despite holding a responsible post.

Mr Shivakumar's comments came after Dr Sudhakar on Sunday shared a picture of him and his children in a swimming pool, on Twitter with a caption, ''After a long time joined my children for swimming hope maintaining social distance here as well…hahaha.''

However, Dr Sudhakar deleted the tweet from his account, soon after he was criticised for sharing such a picture, when the country is facing a health crisis.
