Bengaluru, Dec 15: Journalist Ravi Belagere, who was granted interim bail on Wednesday by a sessions court in the city, has been admitted in the intensive care unit of Jayadeva Hospital.

According to sources, Belagere’s health condition continues to be grim. Belagere was recently arrested in connection with the case of giving supari to kill his collegaue Sunil Heggaravalli.

"He was brought Wednesday evening with certain medical conditions. He is having comorbidity (multiple diseases at a time) like high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic obstructive lung disease and some psychiatric issues," said Dr C N Manjunath, director, Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research.

Dr Manjunath said that Belagere is being evaluated and, considering various ailments he has, the doctors have to rule out possibilities of any blockages of arteries in the heart. We are running some tests for this and within two to three days tests will be done. We will take a call on conducting an angiogram," he added.

He said that Belagere's general condition is on a lower side and this has to be improved before considering an angiogram, if necessary. He is currently admitted in the ward.

Belagere was granted interim bail by a sessions court on Wednesday after members of his family requested for it based on his medical condition. He was referred to Jayadeva after a few tests were conducted at Karnataka Institute of Diabetology located on the same campus.

"He has been admitted in Jayadeva. This was done after few checks done by Karnataka Institute of Diabetology (KID) and then further referred to Jayadeva," his daughter Chethana said.
