Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 7: Violence in Kerala raged in on Monday, the fifth day of the clashes during which over 6,000 people have been arrested for their role in protests following the entry of women into the Sabarimala temple.

Police sources said, "About 2,182 cases were registered in connection with the crimes in which 894 were remanded and 5,817 released on bail."

Kerala witnessed several violent incidents after two women entered restricted sanctum sanctorum on Wednesday after Supreme Court's verdict on Sep 28, allowing the entry of women of all ages into the religious shrine.

In many districts including Kannur, clashes between CPI(M) and BJP workers continued as police planned to take more people into preventive custody.

The Sabarimala Karma Samiti has also pledged to intensify its protest against the breaking of age-old customs and traditions in the 12th century temple.

Why bjp is misuing Shivaji.   For your information, Shivaji was not communal.   His personal body guard was a Muslim and there wwere many muslim commanders in his army.   All were living peacefully in his regime as he never differentiated between religions.  It is fact that he fought with Mughal.   this does not mean that he was anti muslim.   IN those days, kings fought with neighbours to expand their kingdom.   BJP is misguiding Marathas by using Shivaji picture but not followig his footstep.

Sharjeel Imam was arrested on sedition charges last month.

The Delhi Police has filed a chargesheet before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Gurmohina Kaur, naming Sharjeel Imam as an instigator of the violence.

The court had on Monday sent Sharjeel Imam to one-day custody of Delhi Police in the case.

Protestors had torched four public buses and two police vehicles as they clashed with police in New Friends Colony near Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi during the demonstration against the CAA on December 15, leaving nearly 60 people including students, cops and fire fighters injured.
