Over 80 modern, vintage, exotic cars, super bikes on display at Auto Expo 2K19

Mangaluru, Mar 15: Department of Automobile Engineering of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil Mangaluru, organized a one day mega event “Auto Expo 2019”, which was open for the students and public recently, in the Srinivas college Valachil campus. Mr. Rakesh Vittal shetty, Proprietor, RHEA constructions and Mr. Girish Kumar N. General Manager Renault, Mangaluru were the chief guests for the event.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Girish Kumar explained different technologies adopted in the latest vehicles. He also highlighted the growth of Automobile industries in India.

Dr. Shrinivasa Mayya D, principal, who presided over the function, congratulated the students for organizing the mega event and advised the students to update their knowledge in the ever changing technology in Automobile sector.

Dr. Ramakrishna N.Hegde, HOD, Automobile Engineering, praised the effort, dedication and exemplary exhibition of team work and coordination in conducting such a mega event in the department, by the students and also advised the students to take such technical activities to a much higher level.

Mr. Mehul, student of Automobile Engineering, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Ashwin Ferrao, introduced the chief guest and Master of ceremony was done by Mr. Deekshit and Miss. Spandana.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Jerome Anthony and Mr. Amit Kumar H, faculty advisors of Automobile Department. More than 80 Modern, Vintage and Exotic cars, jeeps Super Bikes were on display in the event. The workshop was successfully completed with the support of faculties of Automobile Department, HOD, Principal and Management.

Mangaluru, April 3: A police officer in Sullia town of Dakshina Kannada district got injured on Friday after unidentified youth pelted stones at him.

The incident took place when the cop stopped them from entering into the state from Kerala in the view of nationwide lockdown. He was later administered medical aid.

Bengaluru, Apr 29: The Karnataka police department has decided not to deploy its personnel aged above 55 as frontliners in Covid-19 related duty.

According to order issued here on Wednesday by Director General of Police Praveen Sood, it was a precautionary measure as the elderly was more susceptible to the risk of infection.

Apart from this, the order also states that any police personnel suffering from diabetes, hypertension, asthma, kidney, liver-related problems and cardiovascular disease must also be kept away from Coronavirus duty. The policemen can be deployed for station duty.

Bengaluru, June 23: A senior IAS officer allegedly, who had faced arrest in connection with I Monetary Advice (IMA) scam, today allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in the city. 

The deceased is BM Vijay Shankar. He had been arrested by special investigation team (SIT) in the I Monetary Advice (IMA) case when he was deputy commissioner (DC) Urban Bengaluru. 

He had spent few days in the jail over his alleged involvement in the IMA scam and was released on bail. The IMA case is currently being probed by Central Bureau of Investigation.

Shankar was staying in Jayanagar near Ashoka Pillar along with his family members.

Shankar was accused of taking Rs 1.5 crore to approve a report on financial irregularities, and was accused of giving a clean chit to the main accused of IMA scam, Mohammed Mansoor Khan.

The incident came to light around 8 pm. It is alleged that Shankar ended his life around 7.00 pm, when he was alone in the house. Shankar was said to be under severe depression after his name surfaced in the scam, and his subsequent arrest.

However, the exact reason for his extreme step is yet to be identified. Tilak Nagar police have taken up the case of mysterious death under CrPc and are probing further. As of now the police officials have not found any death note. A senior officer said: "once we finish the procedures of investigating the spot his body will be shifted to Victoria hospital for post mortem. The report will find out exact cause of his death".

Police commissioner Bhaskar Rao said: "We have taken up the case of unnatural death with regard to Vijay Shankar's death. Further probe will reveal more details about it".
