Over Rs. 71,000-cr disclosed under income declaration scheme

New Delhi, Oct 4: More than Rs 71,000 crore of undisclosed income has been declared under the one-time disclosure window IDS, chartered accountants' apex body ICAI said today - giving an amount much higher than the initial figures announced by the government.

The four-month Income Declaration Scheme (IDS) is a one-time opportunity to those with hidden income to come clean by making the disclosure and paying 45 per cent tax and penalty. After the end of the window on September 30, the government had pegged the disclosed amount at Rs 65,250 crore, while adding that the final figures may go up on further tabulation.

"More than Rs 71,000 crore (worth undisclosed income) has been disclosed under the IDS as per latest available information," ICAI President M Devaraja Reddy said here at a press conference.

The number of assesses who disclosed their assets under the scheme is more than 64,000, he added.

Mr Reddy said the information is from the CBDT and "the amount could go up and not come down".

On October 1, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that as much as Rs 65,250 crore of blackmoney was declared under IDS.

Mr Jaitley had also said 64,275 declarations were made in the four-month window and this figure could go up once all the declarations filed online and manually are compiled.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) was actively involved in spreading awareness about IDS.

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 30: Kerala reported 32

fresh cases of coronavirus on Monday, with the worst affected Kasaragod district alone accounting for 17 cases.

Kannur reported 15 cases, while Wayanad and Idukki reported two each, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters here after a COVID-19 review meeting.

Of the 32 cases, 17 had come from abroad and 15 had been infected through contact.

A total of 213 people are presently under treatment in Kerala.

At least 1.50 lakh people are under surveillance in the state and 623 are in isolation wards of various hospitals.

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 31: Kerala reported its second COVID-19 death after a 68-year-old man being treated for the virus, died at the Government Medical College Hospital here in the early hours on Tuesday.

The victim, Abdul Aziz, a retired ASI hailing from Pothencode here, was admitted to the isolation ward on March 23 with the symptoms of the Corona infection. He was also suffering from lung and kidney diseases.

Though his first test result for COVID-19 turned negative, the second test result confirmed positive, official sources said.

However, it was not known from where he caught the virus infection. leaving chances for a secondary contract of a COVID-19 patient.

His funeral will take place as per the protocol, the sources added.

Patna, Jan 23: "They should go wherever they want," Bihar Chief Minister and JDU supremo Nitish Kumar said on Thursday when asked of Prashant Kishor and Pavan Verma's repeated questions about the party's stand's on the newly enacted Citizenship Act.

"It is their personal decision. They should go wherever they want. We don't have an objection. Don't look at JDU in the context of statements by some people. JDU works with determination. We have a clear stand and don't have any confusion," the Chief Minister told reporters here.

"If they have something to tell, they should come and discuss it within the party. They should go wherever they want. They have my good wishes," he said.

JDU spokesperson and national general secretary Pavan Verma has questioned his party's alliance with the BJP in Delhi Assembly polls while Kishor has more than once made his differences with the party known on the issue of the amended Citizenship Act, and National Register of Citizens.
