Pak should extend active support in tackling terrorism as it is facing same crisis: Rajnath Singh

May 24, 2015

New Delhi, May 24: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that the Modi government has appealed to Pakistan to help in tackling terrorism.

Rajnath SinghHe further said, “Our Government is taking all possible measures to tackle terrorism."

Hitting out at Pakistan, while speaking to news agency ANI, Rajnath Singh said, “Not just India but entire world knows who is responsible for terrorism. We have appealed to Pak to help in tackling terrorism.”

While recalling the recent terror attacks on Pak soil, Rajnath said they should become serious and extend all help in tackling terrorism as they are also a victim of the menance. "It (Pakistan) should extend full cooperation in checking terrorism because the country is facing a similar problem today," Singh told reporters here.

On May 13, over forty people were killed in Pakistan's Karachi city when the terrorists entered a bus and opened fire. There were around 60 passengers, including children, on the bus, mostly from the Ismaili community. A pamphlet found at the spot has claimed the role of the Islamic State (IS) militants in the killings and has threatened more attacks.

On Pakistan's strong reaction to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's recent remarks about neutralising terrorists through terrorists, Singh said, "Not only India, but the entire world knows who is promoting terrorism."

Reacting to Parrikar's comments, adviser to Pakistan Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz had said it confirmed Islamabad's apprehensions that India was involved in terrorism in that country.

"It must be the first time that a minister of an elected government openly advocates use of terrorism in another country on the pretext of preventing terrorism from that country or its non-state actors," Aziz had said in a statement released by Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier, addressing a SBI officers' convention Singh expressed concern over Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) racket and said it was used to promote terrorism.

"FICN is a big problem as fake currency is used to promote terrorism," he said and asked banks to be alert to that.

The Home Minister said India was taking all steps to fight terrorism.

Singh described banks as the "spine" of the country's economy and said,"I want to see it as the nation's lifeline."

He described the nationalisation of banks as the "biggest" decision taken post-independence to improve the health of the economy.

"But even after nationalisation the connect with the people was not there. I want to congratulate the banking sector that they associated 15 crore families under Jan Dhan scheme. It's not a small achivement," he said.

The Home Minister also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching social security schemes.

"Even those who criticise us will realise this sooner or later. Even the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has appreciated the scheme," he said.

He rubbished Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's accusation against the Centre for scrapping the food park project in his constituency Amethi.

Singh, earlier, had asked Pakistan to "seriously rethink" its strategy of using terrorism as an instrument of proxy war, adding that this will "significantly" improve the security situation in South Asia besides being in its own national interest.

Mumbai, Feb 18: A group of citizens on Tuesday demanded a thorough inquiry into the death of special CBI judge Brijgopal Harkishan Loya in 2014.

The group has written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, seeking a time-bound probe into the death of Loya.

Loya, who was hearing the high-profile Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case of Gujarat, died of a cardiac arrest in Nagpur on December 1, 2014, when he had gone to attend the wedding of a colleague's daughter.

Social activist Ashok Pai, addressing a press conference on behalf of the group, also demanded proper compensation for the judge's family, saying he was on an "official" tour.

Pai said on Tuesday he met NCP president Sharad Pawar, whose party is a key constituent of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra, and raised these demands with him.

Pawar assured to look into the demands, he said at the press conference at the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh.

"We have handed over a letter to Maharashtra Assembly speaker Nana Patole and dispatched a copy of the letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray (seeking a probe into Loya's death)," Pai said.

As the matter relates to "mysterious" death of a sitting judge of the CBI, all facts about it must be made public after a detailed and time-bound probe, Pai said.

The Loya death case had reached the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court had held that Loya had died of "natural causes" and had rejected PILs seeking an SIT probe into the death, questioning their motive.

The SC had held that petitions were moved by political rivals to settle scores which was a serious attempt to scandalise the judiciary and obstruct the course of justice through a "frontal attack" on its independence.

Feb 4: Amid the agitations against Citizenship Amendment Act, National register of Citizens and National Population Registration across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that there is a "political design" behind all these protests including in Delhi's Jamia and Shaheen Bagh to ruin the harmony of the nation.

"Be it Seelampur, Jamia or Shaheen Bagh, protests held over the past several days regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Is this just a coincidence? No. This is an experiment," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his first election rally for Delhi polls at Karkardooma.

"There is a political design behind all these protests including Jamia and Shaheen Bagh. These protests are a conspiracy to divide India. These protests are going to ruin the harmony of the nation," he asserted.

Lambasting the opposition parties including Congress and Aam Aadmi Party for supporting the ongoing protests, he said: "But AAP and Congress are provoking people. Constitution and tricolor are being kept in front and attention is being diverted from the real conspiracy."

"These people were doubting the ability of our forces during surgical strikes. Do citizens of Delhi want such people in power? These people are saving those who want to break India into pieces," he added.

People have been protesting at Jamia and Shaheen Bagh against CAA, NRC and NPR. Members of the Opposition have deemed CAA "discriminatory and anti-Constitution" while the Centre has maintained that the new law has no effect on Indian citizens.

Recently, two firing incidents took place near Jamia Millia Islamia University. On Sunday night, the firing incident was reported near gate number five at the university following which people including some students of the varsity gathered outside the Jamia Nagar police station. They returned from the Jamia Nagar police station after their complaint was registered.

Earlier, a student sustained injuries after a young man fired at the protestors near Jamia.

Once again incorrect statement and only to divert people attention.  Every one knows who is ruining image of our nation.   this govt has completely failed in all aspects and trying to survive by misguiding the citizens.  Economy is reaching zero and GDP is coming down day by day, Banks and industries on getting closed. youths are unemployed due to no chance.   However, Govt is giving false statement that nothing to worry and our economy if growing.   this govt has brought black bills of CAA and MPR only to divide the society and keep them engaged and forget the falling economy.   If this situation continues, our nation will be one of the poorest countries in the world.   This govt is trying to sell all Govt hold units like Railway, Insurance, etc to private companies only to help the industrialists and to get commission from them.    LIC was running in profit till 4 to 5 years back, but now its running in loss.   Huge amount of money from LIC is taken by Govt to hide the downfall of economy.   Only God can save our country from the hands of present looters + decoits.
