Pakistan gave us lies, deceit in return for billions in aid: Trump

Washington, Jan 1: US President Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at Pakistan and accused it of "lies and deceit" in return for the $33 billion aid the US gave it in the last 15 years.

"The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies and deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools," Trump said in a strongly worded tweet.

"They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!" Trump said in a tweet.

This is the strongest warning yet from the US president.

Following Trump's sharp criticism, Pakistan foreign minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif tweeted that his country will soon respond to Trump's tweet and will let the world know the truth.

In his new South Asia Policy unveiled in August, Trump had called for tougher measures against Pakistan if it did not cooperate with the US in its fight against terrorism.

Last week, The New York Times reported that the Trump administration was seriously weighing whether to withhold $255 million in aid that it had already delayed sending to Islamabad over its failure to crackdown on terror groups in Pakistan.

Last week, Vice President Mike Pence told the American troops during a visit to Afghanistan that President Trump has put Pakistan on notice.

Earlier this month, President Trump had said while unveiling his National Security Strategy that the US makes massive payments every year to Pakistan and they have to help.

New Delhi, Feb 17: Two alleged criminals were killed in an exchange of fire with the Special Cell of Delhi Police at Pul Pehlad Pur area in New Delhi on Monday morning, officials said.

The encounter took place around 5 am, they said.

Raja Qureshi and Ramesh Bahadur, who were injured during the encounter, were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared brought dead by doctors, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P S Kushwah said.

According to police, the two men were involved in multiple cases of murder and robbery.

Vienna, Jun 17: Austrian police fined a man 500 euros for loudly breaking wind after officers stopped him earlier this month to check his identity.

The police defended the massive fine saying he had deliberately emitted a "massive flatulence," lifting his backside from the bench where he was sitting.

The accused complained of what he called the disproportionate and unjustified fine when he gave his account of the June 5 events on the O24 news website.

In reply to social media commentaries that followed, the police in the Austrian capital justified their reaction on Twitter.

"Of course, nobody is put on the spot if one slips out by accident," the police said.

However, in this case, the police said, the young man had appeared "provocative and uncooperative" in general.

He then "slightly raised himself from the bench, looked at the officers and patently, in a completely deliberate way, emitted a massive flatulence in their immediate proximity."

New Delhi, Feb 21: Global terror financing watchdog FATF on Friday decided continuation of Pakistan in the "Grey List" and warned the country that stern action will be taken if it fails to check flow of money to terror groups like the LeT and the JeM, sources said.

The decision has been taken at the Financial Action Task Force's plenary in Paris.

The FATF decided to continue Pakistani in the "Grey List". The FATF also warned Pakistan that if it doesn't complete a full action plan by June, it could lead to consequences on its businesses, a source said.
