Pakistan waging proxy terror war against India: Rajnath Singh

September 26, 2015

Lucknow, Sep 26: In the backdrop of repeated ceasefire violations along Line of Control, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that Pakistan has waged a proxy terror war against India.

RajnathThe minister noted that Pakistan has been regularly violating ceasefire agreements, but India has given befitting reply.

He also said that India's borders with Pakistan and China are "very sensitive" and said security arrangements have to be ensured keeping the situation in mind.

Speaking on India's security scenario at a conclave here, he said, "Pakistan has been regularly violating ceasefire agreements, but India has given a befitting reply".

"Pakistan is also waging a proxy terror war against India," he said.

The Home Minister said the Modi government went whole hog against the infiltrators, as a result of which 130 terrorists were killed while sneaking into Indian territory since 2014, compared to 110 in 2013 and 67 in 2012.

Singh said that since the NDA government came to power in 2014, infiltration cases have dropped to 15 this year from 52 in 2014, 264 in 2012 and 277 in 2013.

The minister said increasing defence power of India was not going down well with anti-national elements.

On China, he said the border dispute with that country persists and attempts were being made to resolve it.

Singh said though the boundary with Nepal and Bhutan was peaceful and there was no problem, the borders with Bangladesh and Myanmar were "active".

To a question, he said ISIS will fail to set up any network in India.

Singh also said Left Wing Extremism was a big challenge as 10 states and 125 districts were affected.

The Home Minister said another area of concern was growing cases of cyber crime.

To a query relating to RSS, the senior BJP leader said, "We are and will remain RSS volunteers. The organisation never permits creating differences on the basis of caste and religion."

On opposition criticism that RSS was indirectly running the government, he said the Sangh never sought a report card from the government on its functioning.

Jaipur, Jun 17: Police have registered an FIR against a television news anchor for allegedly making an objectionable comment on Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

The FIR was lodged after a complaint against News 18 India anchor Amish Devgan by a "khadim" at the saint's dargah in Ajmer on Tuesday night.

"He is running a communal agenda against the Muslim community. The dargah of Sufi saint is visited not only by Muslims but by people of all religions and his comments have hurt the sentiments of all," Syed Sarwar Chishti said.

The anchor later apologised on Twitter. "In 1 of my debates, I inadvertently referred to 'Khilji' as Chishti. I sincerely apologise for this grave error and the anguish it may hv caused to followers of the Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti, whom I revere. I have in the past sought blessings at his dargah. I regret this error," Devgan tweeted.

Dargah SHO Hem Raj said a case was registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act for outraging religious feelings.

Another complaint was lodged by activist Muzaffar Bharti at the office of Ajmer's Superintendent of Police.

He accused Devgan and his team of trying to incite riots through "misleading and objectionable debates on communal issues".

He said Devgan made highly objectionable remarks on the revered saint, which shall not be tolerated.

"The dargah of Moinuddin Chishti is the symbol of brotherhood and harmony and crores of people of different religions all over the world have deep love and faith in the saint," he said.

New Delhi, Jan 5: Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday sàid it was "shameful" that Sadaf Jafar, SR Darapuri and Pavan Rao were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police for violence without any evidence against them.

He also said that it was a shocking admission by the police that there is no evidence of their involvement.

"Sadaf Jafar, S R Darapuri and Pavan Rao Ambedkar released on bail after police ADMITTED no evidence of their involvement in violence. Shocking admission," he said on Twitter.

"If that were so, why did the police arrest them in the first place? And how did the Magistrate remand them to custody without looking at the evidence," he asked.
"The law says 'find evidence, then arrest'. The reality is 'first arrest, then search for evidence'. Shameful," Chidambaram tweeted.
