Bengaluru, Mar 20: Silver Medal winner in Paralympic Girish Gowda was appointed as Karnataka Lok Sabha Election Ambassador for the second time, State Chief Election Officer Sanjiv Kumar said on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference here, he said that Mr Girish Gowda had done tremendous job during 2018 Assembly election and hence he was appointed as Ambassador for the second time.
He created awareness among the physically disabled about the need for exercising their franchise.
Bengaluru, Aug 4: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and admitted himself to a hospital.
"I have been tested positive for COVID-19 and also been admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors as a precaution. I request all those who had come in contact with me to check out for symptoms and to quarantine themselves," Siddaramaiah tweeted.
Earlier on Sunday, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had said that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
4,752 new COVID-19 cases and 98 deaths were reported in Karnataka on Monday, taking total cases to 1,39,571 including 62,500 discharges and 2,594 deaths, the State Health Department informed.
Bengaluru, Apr 26: A 24-year-old man has been arrested in Vijayapura district in Karnataka for posting the photograph of a COVID-19 girl patient as his whatsapp status photo with a derogatory message, police said.
Anil Rathod on Saturday posted the picture of the girl student as status message with a caption, "Bad News Student got Positive"
By putting her photograph as his whatsapp status message, he tried to create fear among the masses and intentionally defamed her by making her photo go viral, the the police said in a statement.
It is an offence to reveal the identity of the COVID-19 patients by taking the photograph and putting it in the public domain, the police said.
Rathod has been booked under for spreading rumours and causing panic, they said.
Puttur, Jul 7: A woman died after a wall of compound collapsed on her in Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday, July 7.
The victim was identified as Vasanti.
The wall got weakened due to heavy rain at Golithottu area in Puttur. Her body was sent to the post-mortem.
According to the police, the incident took place around 12.30pm when Vasanti was working in the backyard of her house.
