Bengaluru, Mar 15: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Friday expressed disappointment over Congress party leaving Tumakuru Lok Sabha seat to coalition partner JD(S), though the party had won the seat in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
He urged the senior Congress leaders and AICC Central Screening Committee members to reconsider their decision and consider renominating sitting MP Mudduhanume Gowda. Tumakuru goes for poll in the first of two two phase election in Karnataka on April 18.
Speaking to newsmen after meeting Congress leader in the Lok Sabha M Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence and appealing to him to bring pressure on the Central leaders to reconsider over the issue, Dr Parameshwara said, "the State Screening Committee which consists of 10 members, including Congress and JDS, had passed a resolution to consider giving ticket to all the sitting Congress MPs. As per this decision the name of sitting MP Mudduhanume Gowda's should have been considered.
