Parineeti Chopra says writers need to write amazing female parts

Mumbai, Oct 16: Actor Parineeti Chopra believes writers need to create more characters for female actors in the comedy genre.

The 28-year-old actor, who features in Rohit Shetty's next in comedy franchise Golmaal, says enjoys making people laugh and would love to do more such films.

"It depends on your personality and what you want to do on screen. I would love to do a comedy film as I like to make people laugh.

"I don't think there are many comedy films being written today. I would want someone to write a great comedy part for a female. Writers need to write amazing female parts for us," Parineeti tells PTI.

The actor says popular artistes such as Hema Malini, Sridevi, Juhi Chawla, Karisma Kapoor have been part of some good comedies, but today there is a dearth of such roles.

Talking about stepping into a film franchise as cult as Golmaal, Parineeti says, "Sometimes it can be difficult to step into a world of a film that is already established due to its story and actors. The actors are already set into their character and story but with this film it was different.

"They (the team) all are friendly and they make you feel comfortable, I felt I was always into it. Rohit is an amazing director and when you talk to him you feel motivated," she says.

Set to release on October 20, Golmaal Again also stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu and Tusshar Kapoor.

Mumbai, Jul 17: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan who is currently getting treated for coronavirus in Mumbai's Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital on Friday expressed gratitude towards his fans for their prayers for his well being.

Bachchan took to Twitter to thank his fans and also said that he is receiving messages from his concerned fans on all of his social media platforms.

"I receive all your blessings and love and prayers for our well being .. on SMS, on WhatsApp, on insta on Blog .. and all possible social media," he tweeted.

"My gratitude has no bounds .. Hospital protocol is restrictive, I cannot say more .. Love," his tweet further read.

Fans of the superstar have been organising special prayers in different parts of the country for his speedy recovery.

Besides Big B, his son, actor Amitabh Bachchan, daughter-in-law, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and granddaughter Aaradhya Bachchan also tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week.
His actor wife, however, actor Jaya Bachchan, tested negative for the virus.

Mumbai, Jan 18: Actor Shabana Azmi was injured in an accident on Saturday afternoon on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in Maharashtra's Raigad district, an official said.

The incident took place around 3.30 pm near Khalapur, over 60 km from Mumbai, when the car in which she was traveling rammed into a truck, said Raigad Superintendent of Police Anil Paraskar.

She was rushed to MGM hospital in Navi Mumbai and was undergoing treatment, he said.

Mumbai, Apr 25: Actor Vidya Balan has decided to donate 1000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to the frontline healthcare staff across India.

In a video message posted on her Facebook page, the actor announced that she is also collaborating with celebrity shout-out platform Tring to raise money for additional 1000 PPE kits.

“In the war against COVID-19 our health care professionals are like our soldiers at the border fighting for our health and freedom. Just like we equip our soldiers for the battle we must do the same with our medical staff. There is a critical shortage of PPE for our senior doctors, residents, nurses and ward boys in their daily work.

“As a result, a lot of our hospitals are not functioning at full capacity. Join me in changing this now. I am donating 1000 PPE ktis to hospital and medical staff across the country. And I am pledging to raise money for another 1000,” she said.

According to a statement issued by the actor’s team, she has joined hands with Tring to provide additional 1000 PPE kits, in association with Manish Mundra of Drishyam Films and photographer-producer Atul Kasbekar.

For donations made through Tring, Vidya will be recognising the support of every donor by sending a personal thank you video message, and a chance for a two-minute video call with her.

Vidya said each PPE kit is worth Rs 650 (all-inclusive of delivery costs and applicable taxes) and it consists of one coverall laminated and waterproof, nitrile gloves, goggles, face shields, 3-ply surgical mask and shoe covers.
