‘Patriotism’ is loving country in heart, helping people to improve their lives: Aamir Khan

March 14, 2016

Mumbai, Mar 14: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, who kicked up a row over his comments on intolerance, says no matter what he does, certain people will always raise questions against him and "negative people" make more noise.

aamirThe actor's remarks on growing intolerance in the country had evoked sharp reactions last year from different sections.

"What I feel is majority of the audience knows me. My relationship with them has been of over 27 years. So the people who question me are already biased against me. No matter what I do they will question," Aamir, who turned 51 today, said when asked about it.

The "PK" star said he avoids this negativity and instead focuses on the positive aspects.

"I don't react to that. No matter who you are, what you do in life people raise question on you, doubt you. The only thing is you should not be negative. You should be positive and be aware of what you're doing.

"Your conscience should be clear, you should focus on your positivity and people's positivity towards you. Most of the people are positive. But the negative people shout a lot so we hear the negative things a lot. Negative people are less but since they shout we hear them and feel there are too many."

The actor, who starred in patriotic films like "Lagaan", "Mangal Pandey" and "Rang De Basanti", said patriotism for him means helping the society and people to improve their lives.

"For patriotism, it is necessary to have love (for country) in your heart, sensitivity towards the society and people. That is patriotism for me."

The actor, who has partnered with the BJP-led state government to improve the water crisis situation in Maharashtra, also appealed to people to have a dry Holi this year.

"I was on born on Holi. So, I request everyone to use minimum water. If they don't use any water then great. Have a dry Holi, please value water."

Aamir's statement last November that he was "alarmed" by a number of incidents and that his wife Kiran Rao even suggested that they should probably leave the country had caused a nationwide outrage.

After the controversy broke out over his remarks, Aamir came out with a clarification, saying "neither I, nor my wife Kiran, have any intention of leaving the country."

Yes you are right. We proud of you as a great son of India. You did a lot on your Satyameva Jayathe , to focus on many bad faces of our society.
It is true when Sri Sri Swamiji ( in good intention ) said Pakistan Zindabad - no big sound is heard. When someone heard in a dark light , that somebody may be shouted the same in JNU - 3 students were jail.
Prof. Jeelani , did not say anything - he is in Jail. Here difference is RSS favour and Non RSS.
Finallly one day truth will win \ Satyameva Jayathe\"."

Los Angeles, Jan 27: Pop-rock innovator Billie Eilish on Sunday bested a packed field to win the Grammy for Song of the Year -- which honors songwriters -- for her hit "Bad Guy."

The 18-year-old beat veteran acts Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey along with newcomers Lewis Capaldi and Lizzo to take home the coveted honor.

She shares the prize with her older brother Finneas O'Connell, her primary creative collaborator.

The pair were gracious onstage, with Eilish telling her fellow nominees: "I grew up watching all of you."

"We just make music in a bedroom together," said O'Connell. "We still do that and they let us do that. (...) This is to all of the kids making music in your bedrooms today -- you're going to get one of these."

Eilish was among this year's most nominated artists with six nods, and is the youngest person ever nominated in all four of the top categories.

Best song was her second award of the night. She won earlier for best pop vocal album for "when we all fall asleep, where do we go?"

Before she released the album in March 2019, Eilish had already assembled a fervent online following for her bold, often haunting pop sound.

In August, Eilish became the first musician born in the 2000s to top the Billboard Hot 100, when she dethroned Lil Nas X, who spent a record-breaking 19 weeks at the top with viral hit "Old Town Road."

The artist named Billboard's 2019 Woman of the Year has also written and will perform the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film "No Time To Die."

"I feel like I'm not supposed to be here," she told E! television on the red carpet before the gala. "Life is weird."

Los Angeles, Jan 27: Lil Nas X, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and... Michelle Obama?

Yep.

The former first lady can now add Grammy winner to her resume, after snagging the award on music's biggest night for Best Spoken Word Album, for the audiobook of her memoir Becoming.

Her win on Sunday gives the Obama household its third Grammy: former president Barack Obama has already snagged two Grammys in the same category for his books.

She faced an eccentric group of rivals that included Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys for Beastie Boys Book and John Waters, the director-performer known for his transgressive cult films, for Mr. Know-It-All.

Released in late 2018, Becoming saw the former first lady slam U.S. president Donald Trump for questioning her husband's citizenship and promoting the notion that he was born abroad.

"The whole [birther] thing was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed," Obama wrote.

America's first black first lady also dug into her personal life in her book, expounding on issues including a miscarriage, using in-vitro fertilization to conceive her daughters and marriage counseling.
