Bengaluru, Aug 22: Slamming saffron forces for their continued protest against Amnesty International over alleged anti-India sloganeering by unknown miscreants, the Congress party has claimed that BJP and ABVP are politicizing the matter and fooling people for selfish gains.dinesh-gundu-rao

Speaking to the media here on Monday Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president, Dinesh Gundu Rao called the BJP's so called Tiranga Yatra and ABVP's protest as their new dramas to cover up their failures and blunders. “Stop this drama,” he said.

"Patriotism is no one person's property. We also are patriotic. The ABVP and BJP are politicising the Amnesty International case," he said adding that the police was well equipped to initiate action against the NGO if any seditious activity was proved.

Justifying the statement made by home minister G Parameshwara on Amnesty having done nothing seditious, Rao said the statement was misinterpreted.

"When he told that Amnesty according to him had not indulged in any seditious activity, he meant that there was no proof about such activities conducted by the NGO. If there is any proof of seditious activity let the ABVP or the BJP produce it. Our police are quite capable of investigating into the matter and take necessary action," he said.

He said the ABVP was conducting the protests outside the realm of law by not informing the police of their assembly and trying to create a law and order crisis.

"The ABVP and BJP are trying to cover up their mistakes in levelling allegations against Amnesty by conducting these protests," said Rao.

Attacking the Tiranga yatra of BJP, Rao was critical of the saffron party and questioned its contribution to the freedom of the country. "Till 1925, Savarkar was there in the freedom struggle for name sake. But after that he disappears. Such are the freedom fighters which BJP considers as their idol," said the KPCC working president sarcastically.

Bengaluru, Mar 2: Karnataka Minister BC Patil on Monday repeated his earlier statements that he will approach the Centre to bring a law to "shoot at sight" anyone who raises anti-India slogans.

"I am not going back on my statement as I have not said anything wrong. I had said that I will ask the central government to bring a law to shoot at sight those who shout slogans against India. Nowadays it has become a fashion for some youths to get popularity this way which spoils the country and patriotism," Patil told reporters here.

"There is nothing wrong in asking for a law. I have not said that I will myself shoot someone who shouts slogans against India. If the same thing happens in Pakistan, they will be beheaded. But we are not so brutal, we book a case and send them to judicial custody," he added.

Patil also said that there was no need for holding discussions over the amended Citizenship Act, but added that the ruling BJP will defend it if the opposition raises a stir in the state Assembly.

The budget session of the Karnataka Assembly began on Monday.

Bengaluru, Mar 31: Bengaluru Central Crime Branch on Tuesday seized as many as 1,000 fake N95 masks amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, the police are yet to make arrests in the case.

Investigation in the case is underway and more details in this regard are awaited.

Recently, Noida Sub-Divisional Magistrate with a team from the Health department busted a fake sanitiser and mask factory.

Notably, the Central government recently had brought masks and hand sanitisers under the Essential Commodities Act up to June 30 as the novel coronavirus pandemic led to shortages and black marketing of these items.

Any person found guilty under the Act may be punished with imprisonment up to seven years or fine or both and can be detained for a maximum of six months.

Dammam, Feb 3: Harish Bangera, 32, who was arrested in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia more than a month ago after offensive Facebook post went viral, has remained incommunicado.

Bangera, who hails from Goyadibettu in Bijadi village of Kundapur taluk, Udupi district, was an air-conditioning technician for a company in Dammam, capital of Saudi's eastern province.

He was arrested on December 20, 2019 after he posted derogatory messages on Facebook against crown prince Mohammad bin Salman and went on to claim that a Ram temple will be built in the holy city of Makkah too just like in Ayodhya where the Babri mosque was demolished.

Fearing legal action, he later posted a video pleading for forgiveness. “I have committed a mistake. Please forgive me. I will never upload any such posts again," he is seen saying in the video.

After his arrest, his roommate, who happens to be a Pakistani, has reportedly made several attempt to contact him, but in vain. He also has approached many Indian and Saudi authorities in his bid to get Bangera out of prison, sources said.

The Saudi authorities have not even responded to the messages of Indian Ministry of External Affairs. "We've made many efforts to contact the Saudi authorities but they haven't responded,” MEA sources said.

There can be many such people in the Kingdom.

They should be identified and treated in the same way.

These are real terrorists, keep him few years in jail,  they should not be let free. Otherwise they will forget and commit again.

May God help us.
