Peace loving people of Uttara Kannada are hurt by communal politics of Cong: AK Hegde

Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde has directly held chief minister Siddaramaiah-led Congress government of Karnataka responsible for the violence in Uttara Kannada district.

Mr Hegde has also urged the union government to take over the investigation into the deaths Hindutva activists in Karnataka. According to him Paresh Mesta, whose dead body was found in Honnavar under mysterious circumstances last week was also a Hindutva worker.

Some Hindutva groups had imposed bandh in Kumta on Monday and in Sirsi on Tuesday demanding the arrest of the “culprits” behind the death of Mesta. According to them, Mesta was tortured and murdered by Muslim goons and then dumped into a lake.

Even though the post-mortem report has proved that most of the claims of BJP and other Hindutva groups were false, the saffron groups have continued protest in the Uttara Kannada districts.

However, Mr Hegde, who represents Uttara Kannada in Lok Sabha, distanced himself from the violence in Kumta and other towns in the district. He also denied that the protests were political. He said he or other BJP leaders had nothing to do with the violent protest rallies in Kumta or Sirsi.

The people of Uttara Kannada are peace loving, wise and educated. They will not join violent protest just because someone gives a call. They will judge each situation and act wisely. They will not be swayed by politics. If they are protesting, it is because they are hurt by the communal politics of Congress leaders, he said.

“Neither the BJP nor any other Hindu organisations have given a call for bandh or protest in those towns. Mr Siddharamaiah is accusing the BJP of orchestrating violent protests. He should hold a mirror to his own face, Mr. Hegde said.

1) BJP create fear among muslims and then create hindu vote bank,

Mangaluru, May 6: A day after a wild bison dies lost its life hours after being tranquilized in Mangaluru, another wild bison appeared in the Ashok Nagar area of the coastal city today.

In fact, two bison were spotted in Mangaluru yesterday. The two were reportedly wandering together early in the morning. Later one was spotted in Mannagudda and the other in Hathill area.

While one of them was tranquillized by an official of a Pilikula Biological Park and captured, another bison had gone missing.

The captured animal, however, died later in the day due to cardiac arrest.

According to official, it is common for herbivores, which are sedated to ensure their safe capture, to suffer cardiac arrest.

Meanwhile, Forest department officials have launched an operation to capture the second bison. It is believed that it is the same bison which went missing yesterday.

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Karnataka Forest Minister Anand Singh on Wednesday said that there was no criminal case filed directly against him.

When asked about PIL filed in the Karnataka High Court against him, Singh told media: "Some lawyer has filed a PIL against me in the High Court. I cannot stop anyone from filing the PIL."

"I have given my criminal record. There is no criminal case directly filed against me. My name is there in some cases but in 'others category'. We will see what happens," he said.

When asked about Congress leader Siddaramaiah's comments criticising him for being given the forest portfolio, Singh said: "I cannot comment on what he said against me as he is a former chief minister and very senior leader."

"Also the opposition always tries to make allegations against me. That is why he criticised me," he said.

Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah on Monday demanded that Forest Minister Anand Singh should either be expelled from the ministry or assigned a different portfolio.

A number of cases are pending against Singh including those registered under the Karnataka Forest Act.
