Periya double murder: SIT submits charge sheet in Hosdurg court

Kasaragod, May 20: The Special Investigating Team (SIT) of the crime branch wing, Kerala Police, probing the Periya double murder case, has on Monday submitted the charge sheet in the Hosdurg Magistrate court.

The SIT had implicated as many as 14 persons, including two local CPI (M) leaders of Periya and Uduma. According to SIT sources, the motive behind the crime was personal vendetta. 

The case was that a group of people, in connivance with local Marxist leaders, had hacked to death the two Youth ,Congress workers in Periya - Kripesh and Sarath Lal, on February 17.

Bengaluru, May 9: With 41 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Saturday, the total number of positive cases in Karnataka has reached 794, said the state Health Department.

Out of the total number, 386 are discharged and 30 patients have passed away. The total number of active cases now in Karnataka is 377.

The total number of positive coronavirus cases across the country is 59,662, including 39,834 active cases.

Till now, 17,846 patients have been cured and discharged and 1,981 deaths have been recorded in the country, as per the data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Mangaluru, Jul 6: Two fresh deaths in last 24 hours have taken the total number of covid-19 deaths in Dakshina Kannada district to 24.

The deceased are a 52-year-old woman from Ullal and a 52-year-old man from Thokkottu.

The man was suffering from cardovascular disease and pneumonia, sources said.

The woman passed away in Wenlock hospital.

Bengaluru, Apr 29: A fire incident was reported inside the premises of the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) on Wednesday morning.

According to official sources, the fire was noticed at the Forge and Foundry division in the HAL complex and as many as eight fire tenders are engaged in fighting the mishap.

According to initial reports, the fire was noticed at a stockyard, where magnesium stockpile caught fire.

The fire fighters had cordoned off the entire area in the vicinity and the fire has been contained.

No casualties had been reported, due to the incident, the sources added.
