Udupi, Oct 16: Udupi-Chikkamagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje has alleged that Popular Front of India (PFI) has been trying to provoke youths in coastal Karnataka to join the extremist outfits like IS.

Speaking to reporters after offering prayers at Hasanamba temple in Hassan district, the BJP leader said that chief minister Siddaramiah led Congress government in Karnataka also backing PFI.

The law and order situation in the state has failed and the government is misusing the Anti Corruption Bureau and the police department, she alleged.

Shobha said that the state government is conducting Tipu jayanti with the intention to garner votes. She said that Tipu jayantineed not be celebrated to only mantain peace and harmony. "With just five months left before the Assembly elections, the Congress party is playing vote bank politics to attract minorities which is not right," she said.

Continuing her tirade, Shobha said that the DySP Ganapathi case was closed without a proper probe. "Minister George and Meti were given clean chits. The organisations conducting the probe have turned into organisations that give clean chits to Congress leaders," she said.

"By waiving farm loans up to Rs 50,000 in cooperative banks, the government has tried to fool farmers. The input subsidy released by the Centre for the crop loss has not reached farmers," she said.

"The government has been claiming that pro-AHINDA (Alpasankhyataru, Hindulidavaru Mattu Dalitaru) has illegally deposited Rs 1,000 crore earmarked for the benefit of backward community students in the banks. The interest is being misused. Is minister Anjaneya not aware of it," she questioned.

Madam Shobakka

can you plzz concentrate most important role? Just go around the slum area and adopt 100-200 children, feed them or do some good deeds rather wasting time on Muslims.

Bengaluru, Feb 5: Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said that he has demanded a report on the Shaheen School incident after reports emerged that children were allegedly interrogated by the police for hours at a stretch, while not allowing parents to be present.

Terming the incident a very sensitive matter as it involves children, Basavaraj Bommai said, "I have asked for a report on the Shaheen School incident. As it is a very sensitive and serious issue, I have asked the police to handle it carefully."

"I have asked the police to take the help of the women and child protection committee at the district level. However, I have been told that the police had visited the area where the play was done and no interrogation of children in isolation took place. Nevertheless, I have asked the police to handle the issue with care and do everything within the law," Basavaraj added.

The matter pertains to a programme organised as a part of the Republic day celebrations where the children in Shaheen School in Bidar had staged a play against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) had protested alleging that the play at Shaheen School in Bidar was derogatory. In the play, the participants were shown staging an anti-CAA sequence where there were dialogues encouraging non-cooperation with anyone asking for documents. A case was registered against the school management.

Meanwhile, CEO of Shaheen Education Institute, Bidar, Tauseef Madikeri had said, "Police have invoked Sections 124A, 505 and 504 of the IPC against the institution, over a play staged against CAA and NRC. It is beyond anyone's imagination. Deputy SP visited the classroom and interrogated the students."

Karnataka police had sealed the offices of the school after its students participated in the play. Meanwhile, the police had questioned students of Shaheen School after a play against the CAA and NRC was staged during the Republic Day celebrations.

The child rights groups, teachers and educationists had issued a statement condemning the police interrogation in the incident.

Bengaluru, Jan 19: Two college students have been arrested for allegedly spiking their female friend's drink and sexually assaulting her in Bengaluru.

The 19-year-old victim filed a complaint against the two accused, following which they were nabbed. In her complaint, the victim said that the two friends persuaded her to accompany them in a party where one of them allegedly spiked her drink.

Feeling unwell, she wanted to return to her PG, but the two managed to convince her to stay back at their place, where they allegedly sexually assaulted her.

"After some time one of my friends gave me something to drink and I vomited. I felt uneasy and decided to return to my PG. However, he forced me to go to his house stating that I was not in a condition to go to my PG. He convinced me saying that I can go home in the morning. I did not suspect any foul-play as he was a friend," the victim was quoted as saying by the publication.

Bengaluru, Apr 24: The Karnataka Health Department is likely to shift the 119 accused in Padarayanapura violence to Bengaluru's Haj Bhavan from Ramnagar Jail.

This comes after two accused out of 121, who were shifted to Ramnagar jail, tested positive for coronavirus. They have been shifted to Victoria Hospital.

A ruckus erupted in Padarayanapura on Sunday allegedly over the shifting of 15 secondary contacts of corona positive patients to a quarantine facility by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials.

Padarayanapura is recognised as a 'red zone'. When BBMP officials went to shift the suspected COVID-19 patients, some people created a ruckus, broke a barricade and removed the police post in the area.
