Mangaluru, Aug 7: Parents of Kavya Poojary, who died under mysterious circumstance at Alva's High School hostel, have submitted in writing to the investigation officer that her physical education teacher is behind their daughter's death.

Baby Poojari, mother of Kavya, told reporters on Monday that her daughter's death is a clear case of murder.

"My daughter's death is a pre-planned murder. Physical education teacher Praveen, who asked my daughter to report for practice at 4am, has killed my daughter or committed the crime along with others or has created a situation that led to her death. Truth should be brought to light through investigation by taking him into custody," Baby said.

"Initially, we thought that the physical education teacher may have woken my daughter at 4am for badminton practice. However, later it was brought to light that the institute does not conduct any practice before 6am. Hence, it appears that he has called her not for practice, but to use her sexually. She has been killed either after committing rape on her or after attempting to sexually assault her. Moodbidri police officials are involved in destroying evidence," Baby alleged.

In their two-page complaint to Rajendra D S, assistant commissioner of police, Mangaluru north sub-division, also the investigating officer, Baby and Lokesh Poojary, her husband have also pointed fingers at the doctor, who conducted the autopsy, and a news channel cameraman who allegedly tried to mislead them. "They have tried to hide the facts by informing us at around 8pm on July 20 that the incident was a case of suicide. Hence, the matter should be investigated," they wrote.

Protest

Justice For Kavya Action Committee has organized a protest seeking a fair investigation into the death of Kavya Poojari, a promising shuttle badminton champion. The protest meet will be held in front of deputy commissioner's office on August 9 at 10am. The committee involves members of various like-minded organisations.

Solidarity with Alva

Meanwhile, Samskara Bharathi in association with various literary and cultural organisations will organise a meet with the slogan 'Alvarondige Navu' (we are with M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva's Institutitons). The meet will be held at Town Hall on August 10 at 5.30pm. Chandrashekhar K Shetty of Samskara Bharathi told reporters that artists, organisers, writers, athletes, yoga fraternity and general public will take part in the meet. Vested interests are needlessly dragging the name of Dr Alva in to the controversy, he said.
