PM Modi making me a national leader: Siddaramaiah

Karnataka Chief Minster Siddaramaiah has said that though he has no interest in national politics, prime minister Narendra Modi unnecessarily portraying him as a national leader. 

"By taking my name in Parliament again and again Prime Minister Narendra Modi is raising me to the level of a national leader," Siddaramaiah said while answering to queries of media persons at Raichur on Sunday.

He said that the JD(S)-BSP poll alliance will have no effect on the outcome of the election as far as Congress is concerned. Both the parties don't possess enough influence to affect the outcome, he reiterated.

Siddaramaiah said that the PM remains mum when corruption happens in his party. "Is he approachable to people like us? He does not allow the media near him," the CM commented.

The PM asks us to keep our money banks. If we do that, people like Nirav Modi will take it from us. The Prime Minister has not talked of this. "He should immediately make a statement," Siddaramaiah demanded.

There is no connection between AICC spokesman Abhishek Singhvi and diamond merchant Nirav Modi. Singhvi is going to file a defamation case against those who made false statements in this regard. "Singhvi is not involved in any scam. BJP is making false allegations," the CM said.

Replying to questions on expulsion of Mohammed Haris Nalpad from the Congress party for assaulting a businessman, the CM added that the law would take its course. "So what if he is an MLA's son? A wrong is a wrong," Siddaramaiah reacted.

New Delhi, Jul 28: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Sadananda Gowda on Monday said that India has proved that it is the "pharmacy of the world" in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at a press conference here, Gowda said, "India is often referred to as 'the pharmacy of the world' and this has been proved true especially in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic when India continued to export critical life-saving medicines to the countries."

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandviya said that three bulk drug parks will be developed in the country in partnership with the states at Rs 3,000 crores.

"Three bulk drug parks will be developed in the country in partnership with the states at Rs 3,000 crores. Four medical device parks will also be developed with a government grant of Rs 100 crores for one park," Mandaviya said.

Newsroom, Apr 23: During the ongoing lockdown in India so as to break the chain of Coronavirus infection, Islamic scholars across India are appealing Muslims to stay indoors and observe fasting with steadfastedness in the blessed month of Ramadan.

They have urged the people to offer taraveeh and other Namaz at homes, do iftar at home and enjoy with one's family only.

During Ramadan, social distancing would be of utmost importance in order to contain the disease, they urged. 

Shahi imams of Jama Masjid and Fatehpuri Masjid in the city have also appealed to Muslims to offer namaz during the holy month of Ramadan at home and follow lockdown guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Bengaluru, May 8: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday held a meeting with opposition parties at his office here over COVID-19 situation in the state.

Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress leaders SR Patil and DK Shivakumar participated in the meeting. From Janata Dal (Secular), former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and HD Revanna were present.

"Congress legislative party leader Siddaramaiah and DK Shivkumar have arranged the Chief Minister to request the central government to announce a special package of Rs 50,000 crore to Karnataka to fight coronavirus and also special packages requested for small and medium scale industries," said Siddaramaiah's media secretary.

Meanwhile, Yediyurappa has announced a special package for those involved in leather works, especially those who work on the roadside.

The special package has been announced for cobblers and leather workers, who work on the roadside.
