Bengaluru, Sept 16: The police were struggling to solve the strange case of a man whose decapitated body was discovered at Anekal early this week. With no leads, they turned to Jimmy, a member of the Police Dog squad, for help. And the seven-year-old Doberman stepped up to the plate.

Putting his nose to good use, he sniffed out the perpetrators and led the police straight to the front door of their house, around 4 km from where the body had been dumped.

“The killers had not just decapitated the head to conceal the identity of the victim, but had also castrated him. They carried the body parts to a desolate location near their house, got rid of the evidence and returned home,” said the police. It was this trail that Jimmy followed relentlessly, and led the police to three men -- Gandhi Jeroy, Madhu Jeroy and Kashiram who hail from Odisha. They later confessed to the murder, based on which the police identified the victim as Biranchi.

“The four men were friends and worked as labourers. Biranchi was allegedly having an affair with Gandhi and Madhu’s sister. When the accused got to know of this, they decided to kill him,” said the police.

The brothers, along with their friend Kashiram, invited Biranchi to a party and murdered him.
