Manglauru, Aug 2: Calling Income Tax reaids on the residences of Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar and his brother D.K. Suresh as ‘politically motivated’ and ‘undemocratic’ former union minister B Janardhan Poojary opined that the operation was nothing but an action prompted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to defeat senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Poojary said that it was difficult to believe the statement made by the Income Tax authorities that the date of search was decided several days ago and that it was a legal action concerning a case with them.
“If it is an old case how come they did not carry out the search operation at an earlier date,” he said and added that these premises have been searched only after Mr. Shivakumar and Mr. Suresh arranged the stay of the Gujarat MLAs at a resort in Bengaluru.
“This is nothing but an action prompted by Prime Minister and BJP president Amit Shah with an intention to defeat Mr. Patel (in the forthcoming elections to the Rajya Sabha),” he said and added that this was the worst case of misuse of power by a government.
