Poojary demands Tanvir Sait's resignation; UTK says party will decide

Mangaluru, Nov 11: Congress veteran B Janardhan Poojary has asked Karnataka Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanvir Sait to immediately quit the ministry in the wake of allegations of unacceptable action at a public function.

utpoojaryOn Thursday attending Tipu Jayanti at Raichur in north Karnataka where he is the district in charge minister, Mr Sait was seen in the video footage, telecast by Kannada TV channels, purportedly surfing through the girls' pictures.

Mr Sait claimed he was just going through the images and messages sent to him on WhatsApp by unknown sender and he did not deliberately watch any obscene pictures. “I am ready to face any probe,” he said.

However, Mr Poojary said that Mr Sait's action has caused damage to the State government and the Congress party. “If he fails to submit resignation, Chief Minister Siddaramiah should sack him immediately,” he said.

On the other hand, Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader said that party leaders have sought report on the episode. When media persons asked about demand for Mr Sait's removal, Mr Khader said that party leaders will take a decision after studying the matter.

Its really surprise why cant Mr.Poojary understand this whole episode very well written andl played by RSS and its well wishing company!! they are trying to create communal clashes before election. A ordinary secular minded person can understand their game plan. A person like Mr.Poojary should not comments for all these non sense matters.

Bengaluru, Jun 24: About 8,48,203 students will appear in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination tomorrow, i.e., June 24, said Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Wednesday.

Students have been advised to report to the examination centre three-hour before the commencement of the examination i.e., at 07:30 am. The examination will commence at 10:30 am.

Early entry to the centres will also help maintain social distancing that is very much essential during the pandemic, minister for primary and secondary education S Suresh Kumar said.

"SSLC exams to take place tomorrow. About 8,48,203 students will write the exam. Social distancing needs to be followed and the mask should be used. Minister of Education and I have already held a lot of meetings. Students from containment zones will be carefully handled," said Sriramulu.

Commenting upon the situation arising in the state due to COVID-19, Sriramulu said, "There is a panel of experts to decide about lockdown. There has been an opinion that the COVID-19 test should be increased. Workers, traders, and others should be categorised in 15 categories and tests must be conducted," he added.

Sriramulu further said that there will be a meeting of task force on the coming Monday.

"All the issues will be brought to the notice of the Chief Minister at the task force meeting, then CM will take a call on what needs to be done," he said.

Meanwhile, Suresh Kumar, Minister of Education inspected the schools and places where SSLC exams will be held.

Earlier Karnataka Education Minister S Suresh Kumar had announced that SSLC examinations, which were stayed in view of the coronavirus pandemic, will be conducted 'between June 25 and July 4' in the state.

According to the Union Health Ministry, Karnataka has 9,721 COVID-19 cases including 150 fatalities.

Sachitha Nandagopal, a former Head of Department of Journalism at Besant Women's College and Principal of CMR Post Graduate Centre for Media Studies, Bangalore, is the Co-Founder of Centre for Integrated Learning, Mangalore which is an NGO working in the field of alternative education, adding value to the present education system. As a Facilitator in Dance Movement Therapy, she has founded Anveshanam - Centre for Mindfulness and Emotional Wellbeing, an organisation dedicated to addressing mental health issues.

She was honoured by District Commandant, Dakshina Kannada Home Guards, Dr. Muralimohan Chunthar. Senior Home Guard Ramesh Bhandary, Diwakar, Mahesh and lady personnel of Home Guards were present on the occasion.

Bengaluru, Aug 9: karnataka's Health Minister B Sriramulu has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He has been hospitalised and is being treated for Covid-19. The minister has also asked all of those who came in contact with him recently to take necessary precautions.

Sriramulu made the announcement in a series of tweets on Sunday. He said, “After symptoms of flu, I have tested positive for coronavirus today.”

“Under the leadership of Honorable Chief Minister (BS Yediyurappa), all the departments of the government, including my department, have been working hard against Covid-19. From the time of corona's appearance, I have had the opportunity to visit 30 districts and work in harmony with the government's desire to treat people well. It is in this backdrop that I am going to be hospitalized and treated,” B Sriramulu said.

Karnataka’s Health Minister also added, “All those who have been in contact with me recently have been requested to take precautionary measures.”

Earlier this month, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa also tested positive for Covid-19. The state's Leader of Opposition and former CM Siddaramaiah of the Congress also declared that his samples too had returned positive for the infection. Both of the leaders are undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at the privately-owned Manipal hospital in Bengaluru.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Karnataka has 79,773 active cases while a total of 89,238 patients have been discharged in the state after recovering from Covid-19 and 3091 have succumbed to it.
