Praveen Shetty’s Fortune Group hosts blood donation camp

Dubai: Fortune Group of Hotels – A Praveen Shetty Enterprise organized a blood donation drive on May 22, 2017 at Dubai Grand Hotel by Fortune, Al Qusais, Dubai - UAE.

Its aims at spreading awareness amongst the community on the importance of blood donation and how a drop of blood donated can be instrumental in saving life. It is the necessity for the global community to indulge more and more in community service, especially when many people across the world succumb to death due to lack of blood supply during surgery.

3rd year in the row, The drive is an annual event hosted by the hotel group in commemoration of the Wedding Anniversary of Mrs. Sarojini& Mr. Narayan Shetty; the proud parents of Mr. Praveen Shetty, Chairman - Fortune Group of Hotels. This year being their 52nd Wedding Anniversary.

This year, Tanveer Sait - Honorable Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, Minority Welfare and Wakf - Karnataka Government was the Chief Guest and attended the event with his better half.

Mr. Praveen Shetty, Chairman – Fortune Group of Hotels warmly welcomed the Minister and his wife, also honored him with a traditional shawl and memento as a souvenir. Speaking on the occasion, he thanked the executive committee members of Karnataka NRI Forum, his friends, well-wishers and the fortune staff members for coming in large numbers and making this blood donation camp successful.

He also said “In UAE, This year has been declared as the "year of giving" by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.And we are very proud to be a part of this drive for giving the best gift that any human can to save another life.”

Shri TanveerSait while addressing the august gathering said that “Blood Donation will cost you nothing butitwill save a Life! If you’rea Blood Donor, You're ahero to Someone, Somewhere, Who received Your Gracious Gift of Life. He reiterated how important is to contribute back to the society”

He also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Praveen Shetty and his hotel staff for this great initiative. Adding to that, he also wished the proud parents on the joyous occasion and thanked them for giving our society “Praveen Shetty - a Gem” who has been tirelessly working towards giving back to the society.

Fortune Group of Hotels also recognized the efforts of Mr. Bala Krishna who has been instrumental in organizing Blood Donation Camps for Karnataka Community, not only today but all across UAE in the past. Hon`ble minister honored him with a garland and a traditional shawl.

Fortune Team also remembered the Air India Express Flight 812 fatal crash enroute to Mangalore,which on this day i.e. 22 May 2010 that overshot the runway on landing, fell over a cliff, and caught fire, spreading wreckage across the surrounding hillside killing 160 passengers and six crew members on board. They all marked a 1 minute silence and prayed for the souls of deceased to rest in peace.

Mr. Shetty in his word of thanks, said “The finest gesture one can make is to save Life by donating Blood.”The blood you donate gives someone another chance at life. One day that someone may be a close relative, a friend, a loved one—or even you” and thanked the efforts of all involved in organizing the event, blood donors and the team of doctors, nurses and staff from Sharjah Blood Transfusion & Research Centre, Ministry Of Health.

The doctors from MOH, were very pleased to see the attendance and thanked the Fortune team for overwhelming response and giving the gift of life.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.

Dubai: A non-profitable social organization, KSCC is delivering a great service to the community during this pandemic situation.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club is a civil organization registered under Community Development Authority (CDA) involved in implementing various UAE government initiatives, blood donation drives, health campaigns, sport events, charity works, awareness programs and much more.

KSCC is currently actively liaising with Dubai government authorities in discharging the needs and requirements of the people in these challenging covid-19 pandemic times. It is also involved the activities such as logistics, coordinating stores, mobilizing isolation centers, equipping quarantine facilities and volunteering services.

During these testing times, KSCC is also facilitating the Guidance to the general public, follow-up up to 122 covid positive cases, counselling the affected, assisting the references and providing the ever-necessary emotional support by setting up a team of 24 reserved persons for call center helplines.

As per the request from DHA (Dubai Health Authority) KSCC has successfully organized the blood donation drive and donated upto 141 units of blood with the help of KSCC members & supporters.

Apart from above, KSCC is also engaged in serving needy by distributing the food provisional kit (Yestahloon) from the very 1st day of lockdown till day by their special task force team under guidelines of CDA, and also taking into consideration the month of Ramadan, team is successfully distributing Iftar food & provision kit with the help of donors.

In the 1st Phase, KSCC covered 2421 beneficiaries by providing 440 provisional food kits, 435 food pack and 529 Iftar kits.

As per the CDA guidelines, club is also engaged in following up the health condition of senior citizens living in UAE.

KSCC special team is also engaged in clearing documentation and formalities related to dead body repatriation until its final procedures and handing over to relatives with help of UAE governments authorities. Total 5 dead bodies are repatriated in their 1st phase of service.

KSCC is also having a center controlled special task team to assist all above activities during the covid-19 pandemic to continue the services to general public.

KSCC thanks all Government authorities, Members in different task team, supporters and Sponsors company MAERSK, MALABAR GOLD & DIAMOND and TAMIL ENTREPRENEUR for their support and also request extend their support to consolidate the above demanding service and deliver our best possible assistance not only because it is the month of Ramadan, but also our responsibility to reach out to the poor and needy, during this fight against Covid-19.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.
