Premiere of Beary film ‘Triple Talaq’ in England on Dec 8

Udupi, Dec 2: Bearywood’s new film with a sensational title, ‘Triple Talaq’, directed by Yakub Khader Gulvadi, is all set to release soon. The premiere of the movie will be held at Scott Cinemas in Bristol, United Kingdom, on December 8.

After the premiere, an interaction programme will be held with the audience, according to Mr Gulvadi.

Navya Poojary and Azhar Sha are playing lead role in the film. Umar U H, Roopa Varkady, Ravi Kiran Murdeshwar, Baby Fahima and Master Fahad also have acted in the movie among others.

Based on a fresh story written by Kannada writer by Sara Aboobacker, and produced by Gulvadi and Narayana Suvarna under the banner of Gulvadi Talkies, the film will have English subtitles.

Shot in Kundapur, Gulvadi, Kodi and surrounding areas in coastal Karnataka, the 90 minutes film deals with the issue of triple talaq and the Supreme Court judgement on it. It aims to expose the wrong notions on talaq among general public and what Quran tells on talaq.

The movie is expected to be released across Karnataka in mid-January. It will be released in multiplexes in Mangaluru, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Hassan and Bengaluru.

Mangaluru, Apr 18: Three people, including a woman, who were being treated at the city's Wenlock Hospital have been discharged after they recovered from Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

With this, a total of 12 people who had tested positive for the virus until Thursday have been discharged from various hospitals in Dakshina Kannada.

A 39-year-old advocate from Uppinangady tested positive for Covid -19 on Friday, he has been admitted to the Wenlock Hospital and is being treated. With this, only one COVID-19 positive patient is being treated at Wenlock Hospital till Friday evening.

Bengaluru, July 17: An infant with heart-related complications died after 10 private hospitals in the city allegedly refused to admit him over coronavirus fears.

In search of a hospital to treat his one-month-old child, the helpless father drove around for 200km in the city. The child breathes its last after suffering for 36 hours.

The infant’s health worsened around 11am on Sunday. “A doctor from a nearby clinic visited our house and said the baby had heart-related issues. As advised, we decided to shift the child to a private hospital,” the father said. The family lives in Basaveshwaranagar.

The parents went to several private hospitals, but in vain. “We visited hospitals in Bavaveshwaranagar, Chord Road, Sheshadripuram, Goraguntepalya and Yeshwanthpur. None of them agreed to treat our baby, and we returned home at night,” the father said. 

“On Monday morning, we started the journey again. This time, we went to a hospital near Jayadeva flyover. We were driving near Marathahalli when our child stopped breathing. We rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead,” he said.

Koppal, Aug 3: The activists of Popular Front of India (PFI) have won the heart of the people by performing the last rites of a local leader of Bharatiya Janata Party in Koppla district of Karnataka. 

Somashekhara Gowda, a senior BJP leader in Koppal’s Gangavathi died of covid-19. His family members were reportedly quarantined. His own party activists also were not ready to participate in the last rite due to the fear of coronavirus infection.

Following requests, a team of PFI comprised of district secretary Fayaz, and members Yaseen, Abdul Aalam, Shamid Razi and Husain Azarauddin performed the last rites as per Veerashaiva Lingayat traditions. 

Speaking to media persons PFI district president Zaheer Abbas lamented that people still have plenty of misconceptions about covid-19. “Due to the misconceptions, performing the last rites of those who die of covid-19 has become a challenge,” he said.

He said that PFI activists followed all the health guidelines and took necessary precautions while performing the last rites. “Under the guidance of district health officials and with the consent of the family members of the deceased, the last rites were performed as per Veerashaiva Lingayat traditions,” he said.
