Prime Minister must intervene to resolve Mahadayi imbroglio: Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru, Nov 27: The Mahadayi river dispute can be resolved only with the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Monday.

Speaking to reporters in Naragund, a delegation of representatives of all parties had met the PM and various correspondences had been made. "We have done everything we should have. It is for the Prime Minister to resolve the issues confronting the Mahadayi project through his intervention," the CM said.

'Vinay Kulkarni image damage'

Replying to a question from reporters, the Chief Minister said that by getting involved in the agitation for a 'separate religion status' for Lingayats, Mines and Geology Minister might suffer an image damage.

Mangaluru, Jun 15: The case of two elderly Dubai returnees who are being treated for Covid-19 at the Wenlock Covid-19 Hospital has left doctors perplexed.

The two aged 76 and 81 men had arrived from Dubai on May 18 and 12 respectively and are at the hospital since one month. 

To everyone's surprise, six of their tests have come out positive though they have not shown any symptoms of SARS-CoV-2.

Mangaluru, Feb 28: Two labourers lost their lives as they were buried alive in a landslip at Karangalpady Junction near Bunts Hostel in the city today.

The landslip occurred when a compound wall collapsed burying at least five persons under the debris. It is feared that three people are still under the debris.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Masood (20) from West Bengal and Bhimappa (25) from Bagalkote.

Local police and fire fighters are carrying out rescue operation.

Mangaluru, May 14: An 80-year-old woman from Kulshekar in Mangaluru, who was undergoing treatment for covid-19, today breathed her last in the hospital.

The victim, identified as P-507, was said to be in critical condition for past few days.

The elderly woman and her 45-year-old son were tested coronavirus positive on April 27 days after she got admitted to First Neuro hospital at Padil in the city.

With this the covid-19 death toll in Dakshina Kannada rose to five. Shockingly, all five victims are women. The district has so far reported 34 positive cases including five deaths. Currently there are only 14 active cases. 15 people have already discharged.
