Provide proof or stop baseless allegations: U T Khader tells Shobha Karandlaje

Mangaluru, Jun 26: U T Khader, minister for food and civil supplies, has urged Shobha Karandlaje, MP of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, to stop making baseless allegations against Karnataka government.utsobha copy

Addressing a press conference, Mr Khader said that being in a responsible position Ms Karandlaje should not resort to low level politics.

“I request her to stop making irresponsible, false and politically motivated allegations against the state government in general and food, civil supplies department in particular,” he said.

"If she has any proof regarding a scam in my department, let her write to us and we will conduct inquiry," he added.

Mr Khader also dismissed Karandlaje's allegation that a ration card mafia existed in Karnataka. "Our government has taken necessary steps to curb bogus ration cards. Ms Karandlaje should remember that suo moto complaint was lodged by then Lokayukta Santosh Hegde against the mafia during her tenure as minister," he said.

Bengaluru, May 6: Resolving the disparity in payment of stipend to the Resident Doctors across Karnataka, Minister for Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar on Tuesday directed the Medical Education Department to consider the request made by the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) to increase the stipend.

Holding a video conference meeting with the department officials and Vice-Chancellor of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), the Minister instructed the officials to look into the request and submit a detailed proposal pertaining to the increase of stipend.

The Karnataka Resident Doctors Association had submitted a request seeking a hike in the stipend which is due since 2015.

Bengaluru, Jul 31: An ambulance driver was thrashed by the family members of a 75-year-old COVID-19 patient who passed away on his way to the hospital in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The incident happened after the patient died in the ambulance while waiting in front of the MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru.

The driver was dragged out of the ambulance and chased around by a relative.

His clothes were ripped off and harangue were hurled at him. The relative was seen shouting and blaming the driver for the patient's death.

Speaking to news agency, the driver said that he was unable to explain the sequence of the protocol which was to be followed while getting the patient to the treatment ward.

Karnataka is one of the worst-affected states by the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the state has 67,456 active cases as of Friday.

The state government has been struggling to contain the spread of the disease as it has intermittently imposed and eased lockdown measures, especially in the capital Bengaluru.

Bengaluru, Mar 1: A Bengaluru Court has extended the judicial custody of Amulya Leona, who raised 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogan at an anti-CAA rally in Bengaluru's Freedom Park on Feb 20, till March 5.

Amulya was sent to 14-day judicial custody for her actions in the presence of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi.

A sedition case has been registered against Amulya.

According to the police, a suo moto case under Section 124A (sedition), 153A and B (promoting enmity between different groups and imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration) have been registered against the girl.
