Puttur: IT fest held at St Philomena College

Puttur: Department of Computer Science of St Philomena College Puttur organized Annual IT Fest ‘Pinnacle 2017’ on January 12, 2017 in college auditorium.

Software Developer of Channel Bridge Software Labs, Bengaluru Mr. Jeevan K A inaugurated the programme and said, ‘Participation in various intercollegiate competitions helps the students to develop their personality.’

Campus Director Rev Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the guest of honour. Principal Prof. Leo Noronha presided over the programme.

‘PINNACLE 2K17’ consisted of Product Launch, Treasure Hunt, Web-Code, Poster Presentation, IT Manager, IT Quiz, Paper Presentation, Collage, Gaming and Dance. The students from 16 colleges affiliated to Mangalore University have participated in these events.

Ms. Sharanya and team performed the prayer. HoD of the Department Mr. Vinayachandra welcomed the gathering. IT Club coordinator Mrs. Rajeshwari M and student coordinator Ms. Anusha P J were present on this occasion. President of IT Club Ms. Fathim Samreen proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Ganavi K compered the programme.

Kalaburagi, Jul 2: Hoteliers in Kalaburagi have claimed that their business is hit due to night curfew timings in the state.

The night curfew in the state has been imposed from 8 pm to 5 am.

Speaking to news agency, Sudarshan, a hotelier said, "Peak business hour is 7-10 pm but now we close by 8 pm. There is almost no business. We are unable to pay our workers. The government should think about it".

"We haven't received any benefit from the government so far. If we are in trouble how will we help our workers? Relaxation should be given," he added.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government on Tuesday announced a complete lockdown on Sundays till August 2.

So far, Karnataka has reported 15,242 COVID-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Mangaluru, May 5: Covid-19 pandemic has caused widespread economic devastation in the country. Many people have lost their livelihood. All sectors of the economy are in distress. Providing relief to the needy is the need of the hour.  Responding to this humanitarian crisis, Dakshina Kannada Automobile & Tyre Dealers Association has contributed a sum of Rs. One Lakh towards Covid-19 relief.

Association President Sri Kasturi Prabhakar Pai along with Vice President Sri Harsha Kumar Kedige, Secretary Sri K. Vilas Kumar and Treasurer Sri Maroor Shashidhar Pai handed over two cheques for Rs. 50,000/- each favouring ‘PM Cares’ – the Prime Minister’s Covid-l9 Relief Fund and ‘Chief Minister Relief Fund Covid-l9’ of Karnataka respectively to Smt. Sindhu B. Rupesh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of D. K. District at her office in Mangalore on Monday, May 4, 2020.

Bengaluru, Jul 18: Karnataka minister R Ashoka on Friday said that the COVID-19 lockdown will not be extended further in Bengaluru.

While commenting on the COVID-19 lockdown extension R Ashoka said, "We have taken expert opinion, and the lockdown will not be extended. It will end on July 22."

Earlier today, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Mayor, M Goutham Kumar called for an extension of lockdown in the city for one more week due to rise in the COVID-19 cases. "It will be better if we get more time to tackle COVID-19 cases. We wish for the extension of lockdown for one more week. We have given the proposal to the government," said Kumar.

Lockdown had been imposed in the city for seven days with effect from 8 pm on July 14 till 5 am on July 22 to curb the further spread of COVID-19.

As many as 3,693 new COVID-19 positive cases and 115 deaths have been reported in Karnataka on Friday, the State Health Department said.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 55,115 including 33,205 active cases. While there are 20,757 recoveries, the death toll stands at 1,147.
