Qalco emerge champions in Hanan Cricket Tournament 2015

Doha: In the second Hanan Cricket Tournament 2015 - Division I, Qalco proved their supremacy when thrashing M Pallonji by 191 runs in a one sided encounter.

Electing to bat Qalco batsmen went on to score a record total of 326 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Ifzal cracked a quick fire 79 runs off 26 deliveries which including 12 sixes while Budika was outstanding scoring 74 runs of 20 deliveries with 11 sixes and a boundary, Tharaka scored 33 runs in 12 balls while Chamat and Intikhab chipped in with 23 runs each in 12 balls.

Ibrahim claimed 2 wickets while Tisharu, Raziq, Aifaz, Deekshit and Melroi took a wicket each.

In reply M Pallonji batsmen were in awe of the total and lost wickets regularly and finally managed to reach 135 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Raziq, Tisharu, Ibrahim and Chidananda had the distinction of getting out for ducks. Deekshit was not out on 43 runs while Captain Neeraj was not out on 16 runs.

Taraqa, Shahid and Chamat took 2 wickets each while Aftab, S.Abbas, Rifas and Jonty took a wicket each.

At the prize distribution ceremony, Fawad Rana, Managing Director of Qalco was the chief guest and guests of honour were Chidananda Nayak, General Manager of M Palloji, Hassan Raza, Technical Director of Qatar Cricket Association and Muhammed Mohyuddin from New Zealand.

The function was attended by supporters and well wishers. Over 300 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament. The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a Lucky draw for spectators.

Riyadh: Cricket Lovers are all geared up for the newly launched franchise based tournament - Kingdom Premier League (KPL) 2020 under the banner of Mangaluru Cricket Association (MCA) Riyadh.

SAQCO –SAAD AL QAHTANI CONTRACTING is the Mega Sponsor for the event and PARAMOUNT is the CO Sponsor.

The 6-team tournament is being played at MCA Grounds on Exit 18 in Riyadh beginning from 14 Feb and shall end on 20 March.

The Opening ceremony took place on AL-Mas Restaurant in Riyadh. The trophy launching as well as Jersey launching took place at the same event. Guests from various companies including SAQCO were present.

All teams will play at least one league Match against every other team. Top 4 teams in the table will qualify to play for the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator. The Winner of Qualifier 1 will be heading towards the final and the 2nd finalist will be the winner Qualifier 2 (Played between loser of Qualifier 1 and Winner of Eliminator). The Finals will be played on 20th March.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.
