Mangaluru, Aug 2: Rahim Uchil, the Muslim face of Bharatiya Janata Party in coastal Karnataka, has been appointed as the vice president of the State Minority Morcha.
The 42-year-old Beary artiste-cum-politician, who had earlier served as the vice president of the Dakshina Kannada district unit of the Minority Morcha, will now also be in-charge of the minority unit of the saffron party in twin coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
The elevation comes a month after cop-turned-BJP leader Abdul Azeem took charge as the state president of the Minority Morcha.
Former Karnataka chief minister and State BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa has personally finalized all office bearers of the Minority Morcha.
Mr Uchil, who is the only Muslim public speaker of BJP in Mangaluru, has also served as the president of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy in the past.
