Bengaluru, Jan 27: Veteran Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member K Rahman Khan has brushed aside the reports that he had been approached by the JD(S) leaders seeking his defection to the regional party.
Recent media reports had claimed that JD(S) had held talks with the former Union Minister for Minorities Affairs to strengthen the party in Muslim circles.
Stating that there had been no communication between him and the JD(S) leaders, Khan said, "There is an attempt to tarnish my image by some elements. I have been a loyal Congressman for the past 50 years and I have never thought of pursuing my political career in any other party.”
“I am one of those few senior most Congressmen in the state to have not deserted the party for the sake of power. I am in the Congress because of my faith in the party -- not for taking advantage to build a political career," he added.
