Bengaluru, Feb 12: The BJP on Sunday dared Congress President Rahul Gandhi to compare the achievements during UPA's 10-year rule at the Centre to that of the present NDA government.

Speaking at a media workshop organised for party functionaries in Bengaluru, Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister H N Ananth Kumar said that Rahul should also compare the BJP government in the state (2008-13) with the Siddaramaiah government during his on-going tour in the state.

"One should always compare the comparables. The NDA government can be compared to the previous government at the Centre.

"Similarly, the present government in Karnataka can be compared to the previous government. However, Rahul Gandhi is comparing the uncomparables. He is comparing the Siddaramaiah government to the Modi government, perhaps that is his style," Kumar said.

He also took a jibe at Rahul for his "driving looking at the rear-view mirror" against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Let the Congress remove all the rear-view mirrors from its vehicles and drive. They will know the consequences," Kumar said.

During his pre-election rally in Ballari on Saturday, Rahul had said, "When you drive looking into the rear-view mirror, you make mistakes like demonetisation and Gabbar Singh Tax (GST). Modi should learn from Siddaramaiah. He looks front and knows if he is going the wrong way, he does not give excuses."

Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar charged that misplaced priorities in the agriculture sector by the Siddaramaiah government has turned Karnataka into a "mine field" killing farmers. "As many as 3,500 farmers have committed suicide during the last four years and the BJP will make it a major election issue," Javadekar said.

He charged that the government had tried to take control of mutts and temples with an eye on the donations made to these religious institutions. However, the government was forced to withdraw the notification following a public outcry, he added.
