Rahul Gandhi to tour all assembly segments in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi soon

Even as BJP has planned a Suraksha Yatra in costal Karnataka as part of its campaign for upcoming polls, the Congress has decided fetch party supremo Rahul Gandhi to Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in the first week of March.

U.B. Venkatesh, general secretary, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and in-charge of Dakshina Kannada told media persons on Wednesday that Mr. Gandhi would tour all Assembly segments in the two districts in the special bus used in the campaign in Hyderabad-Karnataka region recently.

His tour would last about three or four days the dates of which are yet to be finalised. Dakshina Kannada is the land of the Congress and the party would win all eight Assembly segments in the two districts, he said.

Mr. Venkatesh said that the party would highlight its development works in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramiah to counter the divisive communal agenda of the BJP. The BJP would not succeed in winning elections in the coastal belt through its communal-centric politics, he said and added that the policy and programmes of the Congress are inclusive and not divisive.

The party would continue to give a stable government in the State. The manifesto of the party would be conducive for the growth of Dakshina Kannada, he said.

Mr. Venkatesh said that party workers meetings in the gram panchayat limits would begin on Thursday and they would go on till this month-end.

He said that the party observers, Prasanna Kumar and Huchhappa, would hold a meeting in the party office here on February 17 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in connection with selecting candidates from the district for the coming elections. A list of tentative candidates would be submitted to the KPCC.

Bengaluru, Apr 18: Private unaided schools in the state that were demanding fees from parents in the name of online classes and taking online admissions will face action under Section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, the Karnataka government said.

The Department of Public Instructions has warned school management of action against such educational institutes if they violate the rules. Following complaints from several parents and also from private school management associations, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar discussed the issue with officials from the department during a recent meeting and directed them to initiate action against such academies.

In a guideline issued on Saturday, the department said, "Schools can conduct online classes. But are not permitted to collect the fee from parents until further orders from the department."

You should belief that there is something in you to achieve your area of choice. You should get pleasure out of it. 

Ex-MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik believed that our population is definitely a resource, but symposiums are needed to convert ideas to implementation. Coastal Karnataka is best example for successful entrepreneurship in health, education sector, he added. 

Presiding over the function, Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya said that students should be universally compassionate before being an entrepreneur. There will be challenges, failures in entrepreneurship. One should trust himself, and should have courage and confidence to be innovative. One should have aspiration and passion for excellence, he added.

Young scientist, international awardee Swasthik Padma was felicitated on the occasion. Evening college Principal Dr. Ramakrishna B M, Coordinator  Dr. Yathish Kumar were present among others. Kavya P Hegde mastered the ceremony, Venkatesh Nayak presented vote of thanks.

Mangaluru, Apr 18: Mangaluru Police have registered a case against two foreign nationals, who were under home quarantine in Kodailbail, for allegedly spitting in the lift of their apartment building on Friday.

The two men, along with three of their roommates, have now been sent to a quarantine facility.

The residents of the residential complex have mentioned in their complaint that they have the CCTV footage of the two spitting in the lift.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
