Rai to lead ‘harmony walk’ sans BJP, SDPI on Dec 12 in ‘communal hub’

B Ramanath Rai, Minister for Forest, Ecology, Environment and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge will lead a 'Samarasyada Nadige' (harmony march) on December 12 from Farangipete to Mani in Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district to create awareness against communal forces.

The move comes at a time when it has been more than three months since peace has been restored in the coastal district of Dakshina Kannada, which was witness to communal flare ups in the months of July and August.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Mr Rai said that the walk would be apolitical in nature. All outfits and organisations, except the BJP and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), would be welcome to take part in it, he said.

He went on to call Dakshina Kannada district a hub of communal forces. "It hurts me to acknowledge that Dakshina Kannada has become a hub for communal forces," he said.

The minister had made a similar announcement a few months ago when tension had escalated following stone pelting during the funeral procession of the slain RSS worker Sharath Madivala in Bantwal.

While the walk was scheduled to take off on September 12, Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy had stalled it citing the prevalence of prohibitory orders. The government had also refused permission for the BJP's 'Mangaluru Chalo' bike rally.

"As the walk was cancelled last time around owing to prohibitory orders, it has been decided to resume it now," he said. Interestingly, Rai chose an apolitical programme to air his views on the "volatility" in Dakshina Kannada.

Rai was participating in an interaction session with children of forest dwellers, organised by the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

Dear Mr. Rai, with due respect, you and your party before flagging off the rally must answer the following questions to the general public!

2) During the last assemble election you have made public that once you got elected, you will send prabahkar bhat to jail! what action have you taken??

3) your own party worker late mr. Jaleel karopadi murdered by RSS Goons, what action and  justice you have done to his father? who openly cried for justice and in anger he critisized you for failing to provide him justice!

4) under your constituency there were many muslim leaders and activists murder happend were were you that time?

5) the national tragedy of Babri masjid was demolished under congress rule and your national leadership maintained the soft hindutva, why have your party failed to protect it ..?

6) your national leadership had once said we will give justice to muslim community, and will rebuild babri masjid, being in a power for more than 10 years  why your party couldnt provide the justice to the victims??? 7) your party have appointed the sri krishna commission! what action your party implimented against the hindutva brigade??

8) you and your party claims that, we are the protector of minority community! what protection you and your party provided for indian muslims?? since 70 years they have been looted, burnt alive, raped, tortured, made refugees, made scape-goat as terrors, etc etc ???

during all those time indian muslims dedicated their trust on all the so called secular partys, but all of them ditched to the community and maintained soft hindutva!

The anger, Disappointment, Frustration, and the Thawakkul on allah made to born SDPI on indian soil..!! that is the reality, that nobody cannot deny!!

Your Failure is SDPI's Stength, and SDPI's Success is indian oppressed community's success..!!

Bidar, Jan 31: In a disturbing development, the police have arrested two women – a schoolteacher and mother of two students – in connection with staging a play against the Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens at a prestigious school in Karnataka’s Bidar.

The arrested have been identified as Farida Begum, headmistress of Shaheen Urdu Medium Primary School, and Navida, the mother of a student who played a role in the play.

The development comes days after police filed a sedition case against the management of Shaheen School following a complaint lodged by the ABVP claiming that play contained objectionable dialogues against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The drama was performed during an annual function of the school on January 21.

Bidar SP Sreedhara T confirmed the arrest of Farida Begum and Navida, and said the accused were remanded to judicial custody on Thursday.

Sreedhara said that based on the complaint by one Neelesh Rakshal, the police filed an FIR under sedition charges, initially against the headmistress and management of the school on Saturday. He said that the police have questioned about 50 people, including the members of the management committee of Shaheen Urdu Medium Primary School, staff of the school, audience, parents and students. Based on the statements and evidence, the headmistress and the parent have been arrested.

The SP said that as per the statements and evidence collected, they came to know that the headmistress played a major role in organising the controversial play. The students practised the drama for a week and the headmistress knew about its script containing controversial dialogues against the Prime Minister and senior BJP leaders.

Considering this, she has been booked for creating communal disharmony and abetting sections. The SP said that when a dialogue of slapping the Prime Minister was said on the stage, Navida gave her chappals to the child, to be used while saying the dialogue. She has been arrested for abetting.

Expressing shock over sedition case and arrests, Dr Abdul Qadeer, the chairman of Shaheen Group of Institutions, said that the school management would fight out legally.

About Shaheen Group

Founded by Dr Abdul Qadeer, Shaheen Group has spread its wings through nine states of India and runs 43 institutions and related units. It has also been running a unique course for Huffaz named as ‘Hifz Ul Quran Plus’ in which Huffaz are prepared to appear and excel in competitive exams (NEET-JEE(IIT)).

According to Dr Qadeer, Shaheen’s mission is to engage, educate and empower wards, equipping them with strengths to enter the world of opportunities through free education across various domains in state- owned academic centers of excellence.

The group also runs coaching centers for medical and engineering entrance examinations. So far 1,200 students from the Shaheen Group of institutions got seats in government medical colleges, he said.

‘Hifz Ul Quran Plus’ course was for huffaz between 12 and 17 years. A four-year integrated course is conducted for Huffaz-E-Karam for getting students modern education. By pursuing this course and by appearing in competitive exams (NEET-IIT JEE), Huffaz will be able to get admission into MBBS, BE, & MBA, he said.

Bengaluru, May 7: Fear and anxiety gripped migrant workers who lined up at police stations in the city on Wednesday to register for train services without knowing that the state government had cancelled the train facility.

Senior officials in South Western Railway said they were ready to run special trains for migrant workers. On Tuesday evening, the state government decided to withdraw the requests made for 13 such trains to north India after realtors said they need the labourers here.

Migrants continued to stream into the railway station at Majestic, Bangalore International Exhibition Centre and even the bus station hoping for some travel arrangement. Many who were aware of the government web portal, stood in front of the BBMP ward office or police stations for enrolment.

In Varthur, over 100 migrants stood in front of the police station and sought to know what happened to the forms they had submitted four days ago. "We first went to the BBMP office and were shooed away by an official who directed us to go to the police station. We want to go home and demanded that the police help us. There was no response first. Then they came out and beat us," said Pintu Kumar from Mohanpur of Bhagalpur district in Bihar.

Though a video clip accidentally shot by Kumar showed two police personnel charging the cane at them, a police officer from the Varthur station, however, disputed the claim. "The video doesn’t show the cane landing on any person. We were beating the seat and tyre of two-wheelers to send the migrants away," he said.

At Mahadevapura, the workers came in groups and submitted the forms at the police station.

At the railway station in Majestic, a group of labourers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand had walked from several areas in south Bengaluru only to be told that there is no train. Mahendra, a labourer from Jharkhand, said they received 5 kg rice and nothing else in the last 45 days. "Now, I don’t want food. I don’t want the job or money. I can't get stuck here. I want to go home,” he said.

'Restore dignity'

Activists and leaders wrote an open letter to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa questioning the decision to cancel trains without consulting labourers and protesting the violation of their fundamental rights.

The letter had support of 522 organisations and individuals, including Dalit rights organisations and trade unions. It urged the government to restore the dignity of the migrant workers. "We demand recognition of the autonomy and dignity of the migrant workers to decide their travel plans. No one should be forced either to stay back or to return to their home states," it said.
