Rajasthan High Court refuses to pass order on ‘Padmavat’ before watching it

Jodhpur, Jan 12: The Rajasthan High Court on Friday said it would like to wa the ch controversial film “Padmavat” before taking a decision to allow its release in the state.

Hearing a petition filed by the director of the film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, seeking the quashing of an FIR lodged against him at Didwana in Merta in March last year, the court posted the matter to January 23. The petitioner’s counsel, Nishant Bora, said since the name of the film was changed to “Padmavat” from “Padmavati”, the FIR had become pointless and the film should be allowed to release in the state.

“We prayed to the court to allow us to release the film in Rajasthan,” he added.

Justice Sandeep Mehta, however, refused to pass any order on the petition before watching the film and asked the petitioner’s counsel to arrange a screening for the court. “We sought some time from the court in order to take instructions from the petitioner and arrange the screening of the film. Allowing our plea, the court adjourned the hearing of the petition till January 23,” Bora said.

It may be recalled that an FIR was filed with the Didwana police in March, 2017, in which the complainants — Virendra Singh and Nagpal Singh — had sought action against Bhansali and two of the lead actors in the film, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.

New Delhi, May 29: Actor Pooja Hegde revealed that her Instagram account was hacked after unflattering memes about her colleague Samantha Ruth Prabhu were shared.

Samantha's angry fans are not buying her explanation and it has prompted a Twitter trend #PoojaMustApologizeSamantha.

On Monday night, Pooja put out a tweet that her Instagram had been hacked and was in the process of being retrieved. She urged her fans to not accept any invitations or pass out any personal information to the person asking.

She wrote, "Hi guys, so I've been informed by my team that my insta account has been hacked and my digital team is helping me with it. Please do not accept any invitations or pass out any personal information out to the person asking. Thank you."

An hour later, which she spent "stressing," the 'Mohenjodaro' star tweeted again to say the account was restored and that all activity in the while it had been hacked would be undone.

"Spent the last hour stressing about the safety of my Instagram account. Thanking my technical team for instant help at this hour. Finally, got my hands back on my Instagram Any message, follow back or post in d past hour from my account has been done will be undone. Ty," tweeted Hegde.

The 29-year-old actor announced that her feed has been cleaned up now. Her most recent Instagram post is now one on pet food that she posted three days ago.

In Pooja's tweets, there is no mention of Samantha.

According to the screenshots that are being circulated over social media, a meme of Samantha was posted from Pooja's account. It read, "I don't find her pretty at all."

This tweet has triggered Samantha's fans who have not been pacified by her explanation and are demanding that Pooja apologise, meanwhile Pooja's fans say she has nothing to apologise for.

Mumbai, Aug 7: Bhojpuri actress Anupama Pathak has died allegedly by suicide in Dahisar East, her Mumbai residence on August 2.

The police have recovered a suicide note.

Initially, an accidental death case was registered which was later converted into FIR under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of IPC against a person and a company, the police said.

Further investigation by Mumbai's Kashimira Police is underway.

California, Jun 30: Online video-sharing platform YouTube on Monday banned several prominent channels, including those belonging to Stefan Molyneux and Richard Spencer.

The company banned six channels for repeatedly violating YouTube's policies.

According to The Verge, other channels banned include American Renaissance (with its associated channel AmRen Podcasts) and the channel for Spencer's National Policy Institute.

YouTube began taking stern measures on supremacist channels in June 2019.

"We have strict policies prohibiting hate speech on YouTube, and terminate any channel that repeatedly or egregiously violates those policies," the Verge quoted a YouTube spokesperson as saying.

"After updating our guidelines to better address supremacist content, we saw a 5x spike in video removals and have terminated over 25,000 channels for violating our hate speech policies," the spokesperson added.
