Mangaluru, Jan 4: In a serious allegation, BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa has accused a senior Congress leader and state minister of having a hand in the murder of Deepak Rao, who hacked to death by miscreants at Katipalla in Mangaluru yesterday.

Addressing a press meet before the Parivartana Yatre on Thursday in Ballari, the former chief minister held Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai completely responsible for all the murders and untoward incidents in the coastal district. He went on to claim that Rai has hand in Rao’s cold blooded murder.

Yeddyurappa pointed out that the law and order situation in the state had worsened. "Hindu activists are being murdered in the state as in Kerala. We will soon discuss this issue and act on it," he said.

He said the party had shortlisted 100 candidates for the upcoming polls after discussions with local leaders.

Either one of this leader is criminal? If we believe what Mr Yeddy said and he has proof then he should prove and put mr Ramanath Rai behind Bars. If he cannot then mr ramanat rai should put defemation case on him just like Mr arun jetly has put on Mr keriwal and one of his suppoter has put on Mr Rahul Gandhi. If Mr yeddy is telling lie then he is playing with sentiments of people in the state.

Really sad, There can be only blame game in this country. youth is killed nobody bothered. All the groups can do strike, call for bandh. nobody is bothered to help the family or the Government in finding the culprit. Law will take its course of action. Blocking the group & creating problem for public will not help. Wait for the verdict. Forget everything & anything, there is no value for life in this world. Killing has become common & easy in this world. May Almighty protect all of us.

Bengaluru, Feb 4: A 33-year old woman techie allegedly stabbed her mother to death and made a murderous assault on her younger brother before fleeing their home here, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the woman fatally stabbed her mother using a knife and attacked the brother early on Monday.

The injured brother has been hospitalised here.

A search was on for the techie and the motive for her action under investigation, police said.

The woman, employed as a software engineer with a company here, earlier had told her mother and 30-year old brother that she has been transferred to Hyderabad and she may have to relocate.

The brother told police that in the early morning on Monday he saw his sister searching something desperately and offered to assist, which she refused.

However, minutes later she made a murderous assault on him, he told police, adding when he screamed for help and called his mother, his sister said she has killed their mother.

She stabbed him and attacked with an iron rod before fleeing, her brother told police.

The body of the mother was found in another room in the house.

"We are still investigating the matter. We are not clear about the motive behind the murder," a police officer told media adding the woman was yet to be arrested.

Shivamogga/Hubballi, Feb 10: Chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday reiterated portfolios for all new ministers will be distributed on Monday and the exercise was not completed sooner only because of weekend holidays.

“I had completed all the formalities on the portfolio allocation,” Yediyurappa said, appearing to rubbish rumours that the delay was caused due to a tussle over portfolios. “However, considering it was a weekend, I decided to postpone handing them out. On Monday all portfolios will be announced.”

The CM also promised to induct loyalists into his council of ministers, admitting Umesh Katti, Hukkeri legislator, should not have been left out. Speaking in Shivamogga earlier in the day, Yediyurappa said Katti was scheduled to take oath last week along with the 10 defectors, but the decision was scrapped at the last minute due to “unavoidable reasons”. “But I have discussed the issue with Katti. Considering he is from North Karnataka and that we have worked together for many years, he will be included in the cabinet soon,” Yediyurappa said.

When questioned on more prominent legislators from his home district missing out — especially Thirthalli Arag Jnanendra — he said a “different responsibility” has been given to him and has already explained why he could not be inducted.

Yediyurappa refused to react to comments by former chief ministers Siddaramaiah and HD Kumaraswamy on government’s survival, saying he would rather concentrate on the state’s development. “It is common for the opposition to criticize the government, but I’m busy preparing for the budget, which will be presented on March 5. I am concentrating on my work,” he said.

In Davangere, Yediyurappa said he is committed to increasing internal reservation for the Valmiki community under the ST quota from 3% to 7.5%, apart from considering a separate department for the community to address their issues. Speaking at a Valimik community event, Yediyurappa said Justice Nagamohan Das has been asked to submit his report at the earliest to bring in reservation.

In Mysuru, chief minister Yediyurappa’s son and BJP Yuva Morcha general secretary BY Vijayendra on Sunday said the district will get representation in his father’s cabinet soon, pointing to the six existing vacancies. He said former minister AH Vishwanath will be made a minister as Yediyurappa is known for delivering on his promises. Speaking to reporters, he said his father has expanded his council of ministers, ensuring there were no complaints and he will include more legislators given that there are six more vacancies.
