Mangaluru, Jun 18: The President of India received a hearty welcome upon arriving at the Mangaluru International Airport on the outskirts of the city on Sunday.

Pranab Mukherjee was formally greeted by Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai in the presence of a galaxy of dignitaries. Minister for Bengaluru Development and Town Planning K J George accompanied Mukharjee from Bengaluru.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader, Mangaluru Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat president Meenakshi Shantigodu, Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner T R Suresh were among those present.
The president, who arrived in Indian Airforce plane, then flew to Udupi through an Airforce chopper. Security was tightened in and around Airport during President’s visit.
