Belagavi, Apr 28: Amid speculations of rebel Congress leader Ramesh Jarkiholi joining the BJP, the Gokak MLA has succeeded in electing his son Amar unopposed as a director in Belagavi District Cooperative Milk Producers Union (BDCMPU).
In the silent move, Ramesh was said to have been helped by his brother and BJP’s Arabhavi MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi.
Amar, nominated from Gokak constituency, is one of the seven persons elected unopposed as directors of the milk union under Karnataka Milk Federation.
Elections for seven other directors from Khanapur, Ramdurg, Kittur, Bailhongal, Athani, Chikkodi and Belagavi constituencies will be held on Sunday.
This apart, there will be two government nominated directors. The current BDCMPU chairman is MLC Vivek Patil, said to be a close aide of Ramesh.
